Un poco de historia...

Michael Soldano trabajaba en el taller de Stars Guitars en San Francisco, modificando amplificadores.

Construyó su primer amplificador, un clon de Fender Bassman, con la ayuda de libros desechados por una biblioteca. Trabajó en la modificación de su versión del Bassman durante varios años antes de centrar su atención en la modificación de los Mesa/Boogie Mark II, que sirvieron de inspiración para lo que se convirtió en el Super Lead Overdrive (SLO) 100.

Soldano le dio un prototipo a Howard Leese de Heart mientras trabajaba como roadie y poco después, en vista de que el amplificador era realmente bueno, recibió pedidos de Lou Reed, Michael Landau y Vivian Campbell.

Soldano lanzó oficialmente el SLO 100 en 1987 y vendió amplificadores a Eric Clapton y Mark Knopfler, así como a Tommy Kessler de Blondie, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, George Lynch y Gary Moore.
