Man this kit was really fun to build!

I've always been a huge fan of Rogers Drums, but always wished there was a greater range of sizes. Finding a Rogers bop-sized kit is a rare and expensive item to find. So I decided to build a kit around that idea: an homage kit, if you will. My intent was to create something with a retro look, in sizes that Rogers typically didn't provide, at a reasonable price. It's constructed of mismatched shells that I restored, painted, and outfitted with genuine Beavertail lugs to match. The snare lugs are Telestar lugs that just happen to resemble B&B lugs.

Sizes are: 18x14, 14x11, 10x8, and 13x4

This was a fun one!
I was asked to cut down some power toms, turn them into snare drums, and refinish them in a unique way.

It was of course a little more difficult than that. The shells had some ply separation that needed to be repaired. Reuse of hardware and existing hole patterns posed some hurdles. I made gaskets for the lugs out of the old wrap for better tension rod alignment. Lastly, the vertical wood grain was a little challenging to work with but it made for an interesting look!

A serious mod of an old Ludwig 15x12 marching snare drum. I was able to make one reasonably sized 15x5.5 snare. Cut in the right place, and I was even able to keep the hole pattern and mount new tube lugs. Then I made some wood hoops for a 14" snare out of the rest of the shell.
