For the nerds among us:
A short debriefing following the programing of a FUJI Variable Frequency Drive, which now powers my lathe. (it took 10 minutes to program the VFD, but it took about a week, studying their frustrating user manual to get to that point.)

Well, well, it sure is nice having the old EMCO lathe up and running smoothly again. Fabrication continues! Big —woot—! Hot off the press, a floor peg for a Leblanc model 342 contra-bass clarinet, and 4 tuning rings for a Buffet Bb & A set. Oh, and several quiet adjustment screws. All smiles here.

Topic: Moving the workshop from Belltown to Rainier Beach.
This has been a lot work but the end is in sight, and the end is large and heavy.
Fran & I disassembled the little Emco mill/drill machine, got the parts into the car and down our steep & narrow basement stairs.
Now it's time to move the 650-700 lb. Emco lathe. I've been having phone strategy sessions with 4 friends and think we've finally (maybe) discovered a way to move it (safely). One week to blast off, I can feel the countdown already.

This little alto lived in Hawaii for along time. There ended up being a fair amount of labor required to "cut through the crud" and end up with a presentable finish. Thoroughly enjoyable end result.
