Got the new lever springs hand wound and adjusted late yesterday, the bumper materials installed in the stop-arms, replacement stop-arm retaining screws rounded up and installed and the valve ports aligned. Still need to retrofit the "S" linkage end bushings for the wrist pin bearings on the eccentric collars, and make a replacrment pair of end nuts for the lever shaft that goes through the lever support bar but with all the time spent figuring, measuring, machining and fitting, I am not surprised that the project ate up most of my past week in the shop. There is a reasone most instrument repair shops have little interest in working on this stuff, they are way smarter then me and know how to say no, or they accept the project and will send it out, because they "know a guy".😐

When your customer needs nickrlsilver stop-arm retaining screws and they have been out of stock since 1880. This is what a lathe is for. Now you know.

A little late at making this update on the shops progress.

I was truly shocked by the hundreds of comments and well over 300k views of the recent post I did in reference to the number of valve refits going on in the shop this summer. Sadly, there were many enquiries from interested indaviduals that logistical complications and economics deem it impossible for me to provide such services. The internet has shrunk the world but the restrictions of borders and distance remain unchanged. (sigh)

For a sense of scale, one of a set of very large (hollow) double rotors for an Alexander compensating F tuba c.1920 that I made for a long term project. Compared to a standard double French horn rotor. Big job.

Continued posts from last year's restoration of an early 60s Courtois French c tenor tuba. In these images I touch on making a replacement leadpipe assembly and remaking replacement top valve cap and refacing the other original eleven. Final pic taken just prior to silver plating.
