For all you Catskill Mountain fire tower fans we hope you're as excited as we are about the fact that Catskill Climbs is about to release our newest additions to celebrate two more fire tower mountains in the Catskills. It's all just part of our ongoing quest to produce patches for every one of those mountains needed to satisfy the summit requirements for the DEC's Catskill Mountain Fire Tower Challenge. Our latest souvenirs are for Red Hill and Mount Utsayantha. They're not yet available in too many shops. Please let your local supplier know that you're interested in either of these two, or any of the other four such collectable fire tower patches: Hunter Mountain, Mount Tremper, Overlook Mountain or Balsam Lake Mountain. We greatly appreciate your enthusiasm and support for this little enterprise of ours.

Under new ownership, the improving Willow Inn + Events— just outside Catskill, NY, is now offering its guests a boutique “vintage Catskills” lodging and gathering space and is just now also featuring several of our Catskill Climbs Collectable Hiking Patches. This neat resort boasts a tavern, pool, fire pit patio, and more, along with it's small period general store featuring our souvenir patches and other locally made goods.

One of our latest outlets featuring Catskill Climbs Collectable Hiking Patches is the gift shop at a fascinating and unique little museum in Grahamsville, NY, also home of the Little World's Fair. Time and the Valleys Museum is the very first to feature our latest creation, our patch for the Red Hill fire tower mountain, the trailhead of which is just a few short miles away from the museum. This museum [https://www.timeandthevalleysmuseum.org/] connects water, people, and the Catskills, exploring NYC’s Water Systems (a unique and enormous network of reservoirs and aqueducts), and the sacrifices made by local residents to provide New York City with clean water.

For those who shop for camping supplies near North-South Lake State Campground and may also be looking for additional Catskill Climbs patches, the new ownership of the Twilight General Store has just now expanded its selection beyond the Kaaterskill Falls patch to include patches for Windham High Peak, Hunter, Blackhead and Overlook mountains.

Some recent good news for those who hike in the Ashokan High Point area. A state appeals court decision Thursday (5/14/26) cleared the way for the Open Space Institute (OSI) to transfer about 300 acres offering spectacular views of the Ashokan Reservoir and Shawangunk Mountains to the Catskill Forest Preserve.
The property, which is adjacent to the Sundown Wild Forest, is one of two properties — totaling 915 acres — that provide “commanding views of the Shawangunk Ridge, Ashokan High Point, Little High Point, and the Ashokan Reservoir … (with) the potential to serve as an eastern access point to the Ashokan High Point hiking trail and its soaring 3,000-foot elevation, as well as other local peaks,” according to a July 2025 OSI press release.
