Farm & Flea weekend is here! I’m all set up am so excited to see everyone and share some brand new pieces fresh out of the kiln.

I’ll be there May 9th and 10th, 10am-5pm, along with an amazing selection of vendors, organizations, and food. Hope to see you there!

The online kiln opening is here, and it’s time to reveal the newest glaze name! Say hello to Dandelion 💫

Dandelion is a rich, sunny yellow glaze that pairs perfectly with canyon, lichen, rhubarb and bluebird.

So many of you had amazing guesses at the new glaze color (goldfinch, marigold, sunflower, and daffodil to name a few!) But my assistant Forrest J. Wood won the naming contest a few months ago with the idea of naming the glaze Dandelion.

Although commonly considered a w**d, dandelions are nutrient-rich, medicinal, and hardy plants that benefit not only humans but native pollinators and so many other wild critters. Dandelions are a familiar friend that signifies the arrival of spring, and I hope this glaze color encourages some fondness for them!

Full shelves at the studio ✨ So many shapes and colors going up on the website Tuesday, April 7th @ 8pm ET!

After months of prepping, throwing and trimming at the wheel, waxing, glazing, and firing, it’s so satisfying to take a step back and admire these shelves. And I’m always eager to see where each piece will end up going!

It’s been a long winter, and the wait is nearly over 🌞🌼 Mark your calendars for a web restock April 7th, 2026 @ 8pm EDT!

This online kiln opening will feature:

☕️ 12 and 16oz mugs, flat whites, cappuccinos and lattes
🍜 Ramen bowls, pasta bowls, cereal bowls, snack bowls, and sauce bowls
🥗 10” and 13” platters
🍶 Tot tumblers
🍪 Cookie jars in three sizes!
🌷A beautiful new vase shape

The glaze options will include hemlock, fawn, moss, bluebird, bluestone, bone, rhubarb, canyon, and lichen.

There will also be a small selection of pieces glazed in a brand new color! Any guesses on the name?

Meet the newest addition to the LAIL studio: the Leach treadle wheel.

In between making batches of my usual pottery, I’ve been carving out time to experiment. 2026 marks 10 years of LAIL Design, and making space to learn and try new things is super rewarding.

Made in Auckland, NZ with a special permission from Bernard Leach, this patented Leach treadle wheel was originally imported to the US for a demonstration, and then made its way to Maine. Jeffrey Lipton asked if would be interested in purchasing it, and I had the pleasure of staying with him and checking out his studio when I picked it up last year.

This treadle wheel is helping me slow down and throw more intentionally, and I’m having a ton of fun figuring out what works best. I’m using it to create a special body of work for LAIL’s 10th anniversary, formulated with hand-mixed local clay and glazes made of ash from my wood stove. The results are earthy, full of movement, and surprising after gas firing. Can’t wait to share more!

Happy to announce a new addition to the LAIL collection: the Sauce Bowl. This versatile li’l guy is the perfect size and shape for condiments, spices, and gathering ingredients for mise en place.

I’ve gotten into the habit of making this little bowl as a way to use up leftover clay during each cycle. And it’s ended up being one of the most-used objects in my kitchen! My son loves dipping his food, so it’s most often used to hold ketchup for chicken tenders, maple syrup for French toast, or soy sauce for dumplings.

Over the years, restaurant owners have asked me for ramekins for sauces, so I would make them for small-batch custom orders. And when Katie at approached me for a collaboration earlier this year, I realized this piece might appeal to more people. We partnered up to make a tiny bowl for ’s chain mail scrubbers (which I use often to clean my pan!), and I’m so grateful that this was the impetus for the Sauce Bowl to finally join the LAIL collection.

We’ll have plenty in stock at our website lail.design on Tuesday, December 9 @ 8pm EST. See you there!
