When we released our new Quiltmania #149 Dresden Dance Bundle, several customerasked if they could purchase just the beautiful indigo fabrics featured in the quilt kit.
So, while building the quilt bundles, we also created a limited number of Indigo Fat Quarter Bundles featuring the same rich assortment of deep blue prints. If you're an indigo lover, these bundles are a great way to add some timeless blues to your collection.
Indigo has been one of the world's most important textile dyes for thousands of years. Long before synthetic dyes were available, indigo was prized for its rich color and remarkable durability. From shirtings and workwear to quilts and dress fabrics, indigo became a staple of everyday life throughout the 18th and 19th centuries.
And here's a fun historical connection to Margo's home state of West Virginia. Wheeling was the birthplace of the famous Wabash fabrics produced by J.L. Stifel & Sons beginning in the 1830s. These distinctive fabrics featured crisp white dots and motifs created through a discharge-printing process on an indigo-dyed ground. Wabash prints became some of the most recognizable cotton fabrics in America and are still beloved by textile collectors and reproduction fabric enthusiasts today.
Perhaps it's no surprise that indigo is Margo's favorite dye! Growing up in West Virginia, she developed a lifelong appreciation for the beautiful blue fabrics that have played such an important role in American textile history.
You'll find both the Dresden Dance Quilt Bundle and our new Indigo Fat Quarter Bundles in our Fun Finds area while supplies last.
