I went to Japan in search of the best fabric storesโฆ and came home with a suitcase full of fabric โ๏ธ๐ฏ๐ต
One of my first stops in Tokyo was Nippori Fabric Town โ an entire district devoted to sewing and textiles (basically a fabric crafterโs dream ๐).
I went specifically to visit Tomato, one of the largest fabric stores in Tokyo. This store had 5 floors packed with rows and rows of fabric bolts, incredible prints, and so many unique textures. I ended up purchasing over 15lbs of fabric here ๐คญ all at amazing prices compared to what we have in the states!
My fabric search continued in Kyoto at Nomura Tailor. I actually visited both of their Kyoto locations and was so excited to see they carried a large selection of Liberty London fabric (a UK-based fabric design house), along with an amazing variety of Japanese-made textiles.
Of course I had to bring home a few floral Liberty prints, plus some new notions and supplies Iโm excited to start experimenting with back in the studio. One thing I especially loved was all the project inspiration displayed around the store โ it made me want to start sewing immediately ๐ฉท
Iโm sure there are tons of amazing fabric stores in Japan that I missed. If you have a favorite, tell me in the comments โ Iโm already planning my next trip.
