We’re looking for a dependable and positive person to join our team on a very part-time, flexible basis. This position is ideal for someone looking for a little extra spending money, a fun change of pace, or an enjoyable way to get out of the house a couple days a week.

Hours will vary based on shop needs. Some weeks may be 1–2 shifts, while other weeks may not require coverage at all. Holiday season will naturally require more availability and flexibility. This role is best suited for someone with a flexible schedule who is not relying on consistent full-time income.

While it may not be every weekend, Saturday availability is a must, as Saturdays are when we most often need coverage.

This position is ideal for a stay-at-home parent with daytime availability, retiree, college student, or anyone looking for a low-pressure side job in a fun, small business atmosphere. If this sounds perfect for you, we’d love to hear from you!

Guess who is 40 today! 🎉💛

Little sister’s birthday is today and we are so excited to celebrate Cortney and the joy she brings into all of our lives.

I have loved this girl since the day she was born! We are 7 years apart and I felt honored to hold her when she came home from the hospital, babysit her as she was growing up, and share a room all the way until I went to college! We’ve always been the best of friends.

Truly.

I feel so lucky to have such a kind, loyal, creative and hilarious sister. No one makes me laugh harder than Cortney. No one can make cardboard look prettier. Every day we are at the shop together is a day I look forward to.

I love her so much and although we never dreamed of owning a shop together when we were growing up, all the time spent choreographing dances, being silly, creating, playing and sharing common spaces and stories all helped to bond two sisters together who still love to do all of these things together.

She is a beautiful soul through and through and all she dreams up and creates is an extension of that beauty. It’s been an honor to watch her talents grow exponentially over the years.

We all love you so much Cortney! Happy happy 40th birthday! Welcoming you to this great decade with arms wide open!

The morning of December 8, 2024, I received a message on Instagram from a gentleman in Moradabad, a city in the Uttar Pradesh state of India. He was inquiring about a product he saw on our social media that we were selling—a garland made of gold metal leaves. Curiously and cautiously, I engaged in conversation.

As a very young boy, Mannan worked alongside his father in a small workshop in their “very humble abode.” His dad was the first, at that time, to create beautiful, intricate metal wreaths and garlands by hand and supply them to exporters in the area.

Mannan recalls one day when he was 13, when “a very distinguished gentleman” arrived on their doorstep in a sleek BMW. He gazed in awe at the “luxurious vehicle.” He said, “It was then that the stark contrast between our modest lifestyle—residing in a rented dwelling and owning a dilapidated two-wheeler—and the opulence before me crystallised in my mind.”

He started his own company, hand-making home and holiday decor items with his father’s guidance and exporting them. It turns out that over the years, Mannan has supplied beautiful pieces to a handful of brands that Schoolhouse has purchased from.

Unfortunately, his friend and business partner betrayed him, and he lost everything—his factory, his machinery, molds, and his clients. With setback after setback, Mannan has tried to rebuild.

I told him that we would love to try to work with him, and that if our customers responded well to the products, we could continue to buy from him. And who knows… maybe he will get his very own sleek BMW someday, and Schoolhouse will have been a small part of it.

Since the plan was to have his products be part of our spring lineup, I got to work designing my first product: a daffodil. In January 2025, I sent over a rough sketch and color palette, and Mannan got to work making it happen.

It’s been a long time coming, but yesterday I spent the day unboxing carefully packaged daffodils and spring garlands all the way from Moradabad, India, and Mannan and I are very excited to share them with you. 🌼 🌷

The glowing windows of a flower shop. ❤️

I snapped this picture tonight when I (Cortney) left a little after 8:00 p.m.

You can’t see it, but inside is a slightly tired florist with sore feet and a few little flower elves still hard at work in the workshop — washing buckets, organizing ribbons, and creating a custom heart bouquet for somebody’s special someone.

I love the idea that there are glowing flower shop windows all over the world right now just like this one, all quietly preparing to help spread all the love this weekend.

I haven’t posted much this week because I, too, have been quite the flower elf. But our Valentine’s room is still full of the cutest cards and giftables.

If you haven’t already, we hope you’ll stop in tomorrow or Saturday to grab some flowers, maybe some chocolate, and say hi to some tired flower elves.
