📖 About the Book 📖
A portrait of three women connected through one man in the aftermath of his murder—a stunning literary achievement and the explosive and highly anticipated debut novel from beloved award-winning memoirist T Kira Madden.

Birdie Chang didn’t know anything about Whidbey Island when she chose it, only that it was about as far away as she could get from her own life. She’s a woman on the run, desperate for an escape from the headlines back home and the look of concern in her girlfriend’s eyes—and from Calvin Boyer, the man who abused her as a child and who’s now resurfaced. On her way, she has an unnerving encounter with a stranger on the ferry who offers her a proposition, a sinister solution and plan for revenge.

But Birdie isn’t the only girl Calvin harmed back then. There’s also Linzie King, a former reality TV star who recently wrote all about it in her bestselling memoir. Though the two women have never met, their stories intertwine. Once Birdie arrives on Whidbey, she finally cracks the book’s spine, only to find too much she recognizes in its pages. Soon after, on the other side of the country, Calvin’s loving mother, Mary-Beth, receives a shocking phone call from the police: her only son has been murdered.

Calvin’s death sets into motion a series of events that sends each woman on a desperate search for answers. A complex whodunit told from alternating points of view, Whidbey is searingly perceptive and astonishingly original. Exploring the long reach of violence and our flawed systems of incarceration and rehabilitation, this is a tense and provocative debut that’s sure to incite crucial questions about the pursuit of justice and who has real power over a story: the one who lives it, or the one who tells it?

We have another new bookseller in the store! Please join us in welcoming Hailey to the team! 📣📚

Hailey (she/her) has worked in the book publishing industry for 10 years as a marketing and social media specialist. After working from home, she craved more community and was eager to shift to an in-person working position. Three Avenues is the next chapter in her bookish journey! Hailey loves fantasy, translated literature, comics, romance, and literary fiction. Her most recent favorites have been Perfection by Vincenzo Latronico translated by Sophie Hughes and Dungeon Crawler Carl, Book 5: The Butcher’s Masquerade by Matt Dinniman. Hailey lives in Andersonville and you’ll often find her indulging her stationery obsession at Paper and Pencil. A proud Puerto Rican and Chicagoan (she grew up in Wrigleyville), you can identify her by her Chicago flag finger tattoo.

New Bookseller Alert! 📢📚

Meet Sydney (she/her). Sydney is a life-long book lover and resident of the Three Avenues neighborhood! Looking at media and art through a sociopolitical lens, she is always ready with recommendations for books, podcasts, music, movies, & more! She is genre-agnostic but really enjoys reading fantasy, magical realism, romance, feminist literary fiction, and horror. One of Sydney’s favorite reads is The Great Believers by Rebecca Makkai. Sydney was an early-adopter of StoryGraph and has a ridiculously long TBR! Outside of Three Avenues, she works in artist and filmmaker development with the documentary company, Kartemquin Films. She has also been taking singing lessons for the last few years, so if you hear someone singing in the store, it’s probably her!

Join us in welcoming Sydney to the team! ❤️👋🏽🎉

About the Book: Stops Along the Way
A sunny YA romance about a road trip and life’s unexpected turns from the author of Give Me a Sign.

Iris doesn’t trust the odds. Not when she has a 1 in 4 chance of inheriting the same vision diagnosis as her sister, Amelia.

When Iris travels to the east coast to help Amelia drive her things back from college, the last person she expects to run into on campus is Declan, her board game club rival, but he’s also there to drive his brother home for summer break. The unlikely occurrence results in the four of them caravaning together to Nebraska.

Iris and Declan are used to competing with dice and cards across a table, but the romantic feelings unfolding as they drive across the map are a total surprise. The odds of falling in love on the road seem low, especially amid car troubles and sister drama. Can Iris look past probability and embrace the unexpected?

About the Book 📘
An eye-opening, entertaining, and unflinchingly honest memoir that reads like The Tender Bar meets The Bear
James Beard Award-winning restaurateur Kevin Boehm has opened 40 restaurants in his 30-year career. He’s worked with hard-core line cooks and celebrity chefs, suffered embarrassing setbacks, and won Michelin stars. Today his Boka Group is one of the most successful restaurant companies in the world.
But Boehm’s path was a complicated one. A turbulent family life and a shocking revelation about his father drove him out into the world in search of a home. He found one in restaurants. Amidst other gifted and damaged people, he discovered the magic of hospitality and the thrill of a dining room on the edge of chaos.
The Bottomless Cup is Boehm’s vibrant, funny and frank account of a life in and out of restaurants. This is a memoir about dropping out and finding your place, about opening nights and what comes after, about chefs, partners, guests, and critics. The Bottomless Cup is a story of ambition and adrenaline, of reaching remarkable highs and reckoning with the costs.
