LOG JAM AT COLONIAL: SIX SHARE THE LEAD AFTER ROUND ONE

A wide open Round 1 at Colonial Country Club produced a six way tie at the top of the leaderboard, with a dozen more players just one shot back.

After 18 holes, the leaderboard is stacked — 31 players sit at 4 under or better, setting up a wild Friday.

STANDOUT STATS

Six Way Tie at the Top: Ryan Gerard, Andrew Putnam, Tom Kim, J.J. Spaun, Matt McCarty, and Lee Hodges all opened at 6 under par 64.

Top of the World Rankings: World Number 9 J.J. Spaun is in the lead group. The highest ranked player in the field, World Number 13 Ludvig Åberg, opened with a 4 under 66 and sits T19.

Notable Names at 5 Under: A dozen players sit one back, including Keegan Bradley, Brian Harman, Gary Woodland, and Billy Horschel.

Defending Champion Treading Water: Ben Griffin, last year's Charles Schwab Challenge winner, opened with a 2 under 68 and is T41, four shots off the lead.

Justin Thomas Slow Start: World Number 16 Justin Thomas opened with a 1 under 69 and sits T57, five shots back.

Steven Scott from the Double Tap podcast joined us on Hadley Presents to talk about smart technology in the home for people with vision loss. He mentioned that some people think technical solutions won’t be right for older adults, but he finds that anyone can get excited about technology once they learn what it can do.

“I never subscribed to the theory that age has anything to do with capability,” Scott said. “I’ve met a lot of 85-year-olds who could probably outdo me with technology. It’s not about age.”
