What a wonderful event to be a part of on Tuesday at Plaza Community Cinema!

The cinema hosted Team Deakins, the world renowned and Oscar winning cinematographer Sir Roger Deakins, and his creative and collaborative partner and wife, James Deakins. They were interviewed by the superb Carl James Hunter where they discussed Roger and James’ past films, awards, life together and their love of still photography as beautifully showcased in their newest book “Reflections: On Cinematography.”

Thanks so much to Roger and James Team Deakins for signing many books for those attending the event and for being so gracious and lovely! It was an honour to meet you both.

And thanks to the Plaza team for having us, especially Matt, Andrew, and our new best friend Peter 😄

We love our table! We moved it forward recently and made it smaller to be able to fit in a fixture from elsewhere in the shop which now allows us specific sections for Romance, Historical and Contemporary fiction.

Not pictured are our many card spinners featuring beautiful and funny cards by various brands.

We love that we can separate out the fiction genres more now.

Crime and Romantasy, more Thrillers and a better view of Horror (my fave) and translated fiction.

We have so many wonderful jigsaws on offer plus kid’s toy brands like Orchard Toys.

We love this section and new display stands allowing us to showcase our picture books making it easier for customers to see what we have. Not pictured is our shelving unit with the rest of the many picture books we have on offer, such as one million Julia Donaldson books.

Baby and toddler books! Featuring all the new fabulous ones like Oi Dinosaur, and amazing classics such as Peepo and Dear Zoo.

Not pictured is our wonderful 5-7 range where we have all the Dog Man’s, Bunny vs Monkeys and much much more.

I love our ginormous till point. Can you see the books on the back wall? No? OK, so we have Travel, Travel Writing and Maps, Nature, History, World Affairs, Sports, Business and Science, and Biographies all along the back wall. Facing those shelves are Cookery, Art, photography and Crafts, Music & TV, Local History and True Crime. Have I missed anything?

Manga is so popular, I’m increasing the range daily! I’ve also placed a new order for those fabulous tote bags 👀

All the Dungeon Crawler Carls, obvs. If you’ve not read them yet where have you even been?

A popular section is Myths and Magick and is usually where you find some of the most beautiful books in the shop. Pop back another day when I’ve had time to take more pics ☺️

It’s not every day you have a Former First Lady in your shop! This is the wonderful Eliza Reid, former First Lady of Iceland, public speaker, gender equality advocate, cofounder of the acclaimed Iceland Writers Retreat and author! Eliza joined us for a book signing on Tuesday morning. Thanks so much Eliza, it was pleasure to meet you!

We have signed copies of her new crime fiction book ‘Death of a Diplomat’ available now.

Then that night it was our second Kinsley's Crosby book club where we discussed Boudicca’s Daughter and then gave out our next book The Dream Hotel. Swipe to see pics 👀

Last Thursday our Book Club met at Piloto Lounge to discuss our June book ‘Boudicca’s Daughter’.

We had a fab time as usual and it was an interesting discussion for sure!

The book we have chosen for July will be read across all three book clubs for the first time! If you are part of the book club that meet in Kinsley’s and don’t want to know what that book is yet then don’t swipe on this post 👀
