We'll be in Dulwich on Saturday the 23rd of May for a relaxed afternoon of instruments, bows, and complimentary valuations.

We'll bring a small selection of instruments and bows to try throughout the afternoon - let us know if there's something on our website that you've got your eye on!

Valuation appointments can be booked via the link in our bio. Otherwise, please do just drop by to try some instruments and have a chat.

We'd be very pleased to see you there!

Check out this varnish! We've lost track of time staring at this beautiful texture 👀

This 1936 violin was made by the Nice maker Pierre Gaggini, just two years after returning to his hometown from Paris. The model shows the influence of his uncle and teacher, Alberto Blanchi.

Gaggini's prolific career was marked by numerous awards at international exhibitions. His instruments combine precise workmanship with great artistic flair - it's safe to say we're truly impressed!

Well, what a whirlwind it’s been. Today marks exactly 10 years since we set up Wright Violins! Happy Birthday to us!

Here are some reflections about the journey.

🏠 Premises. We are in our 3rd location: we started out dealing from our flat in London, then after a successful couple of years, moved to premises in Edinburgh, and 3 years ago, moved just round the corner to our current lovely spacious shop!

🎻 Instruments. When we set up the business, we had no loans, backing or start up capital, just three violins for sale and a whole lot of passion! We now find ourselves (still with no bank loans or backing) with hundreds and hundreds of amazing old instruments here in the shop, many of them owned by people who have put their trust in us to sell them.

⛪️ Locations. During this 10 years, we’ve sold instruments to people on every continent, except Antarctica, and the instruments date from between 1606 to present day by makers from Cremona, Venice, Milan, Rome, Genoa, Edinburgh, Paris, London, Sydney and New York to name a few.

🔜 What next! Well, in the short term, some Champagne!! And in the longer term, we have some extremely exciting news to share… but not just yet!

Thank you to all of our amazing clients who have bought instruments and bows from us, who have sold through us, and to those who have supported us in many other ways. To the clients we haven’t met yet, we look forward to meeting you in the future! We will be here for quite a lot longer, so take your time and be in touch when it’s right for you!

We love finding inscriptions like this in instruments!! Violins carry so much history with them. It’s nice to know that this one is once more being restored in it’s home town, though it’s been on many travels between them and now!

Violin by Luigi Fabris, Venice, c.1860-1865, with Eric Blot certificate. It’s a stunner which due to some historic damage, is priced much lower than one without damage. Still sounds amazing though!!
