Small boxes can store your treasures or everyday small items in style.
Artisans have crafted these Fair Trade boxes from a variety of materials, incuding papier-maché, soapstone, bamboo, recycled magazines, and cinnamon bark.
There's another category that looks similar, but they actually hold sets of coasters. These handy table protectors are made from papier-maché or bamboo.

Drop earrings from southern Mexico are mosaics of stone and shell. Backings are silver, and hooks are made from surgical steel. A delicate Fair Trade look for the new season, available at Global Village Store, Hillside Centre.
Plus, an extra umbrella is handy in the car or office. These large umbrellas are made by disabled persons in India, and open at the touch of a button. By purchasing one, you become a supporter of their efforts to rehabilitate through work.

Spring is here, and Easter is just around the corner. If you're looking for small gifts or tokens of spring, check these items at Global Village Store in Hillside Centre. Quilled paper decorations from Vietnam, toy rabbits from Thailand, finger puppets, a swag of cotton flowers, pop-up cards, all made by craftspeople who benefit from Fair Trade.

Hand-printed in Zimbabwe on heavy locally-made cotton cloth, these placemats and table runners are delightful. And machine-washable! Instead of the wax used in batik printing, artisans use thin maize porridge to create the crackle effect.

The 'table runners' would work well as cheerful wall hangings. Check them out daily at Global Village Store, Hillside Centre, Victoria.

San Antonio Palopo in Guatemala is small village on the shores of Lake Atitlan. The land around it yields high quality clay, and skilled craftspeople at San Antonio Ceramics send us a number of useful or decorative pottery forms. Mugs, soup bowls, small creamers, spoon rests, wall decorations, kitchen sponge holders, sauce dishes are microwave and dishwasher safe, overproof to 400 degrees. Handmade and hand-painted.

Kantha stitching is an old technique from eastern India. It is used for upcycling worn or tattered saris into clothing and bedcoverings. Several layers of recycled cloth (2 or even 5 layers) are attached by hand with a simple running stitch, creating cosy and colourful items.
We have a new shipment of beautiful cotton kantha items, including coverlets, scarves, bags, round cushions, cushion covers and a few stoles with buttons.

We would sincerely like to thank everyone who visited Global Village Store in 2025. Your purchases of high-quality handicrafts have helped our volunteers' goal of providing fairly-paid work to people in low-income countries.

Looking for a host or hostess gift with a difference? Consider one of these thoughtful Fair Trade items. We carry honey, olive oil, chocolate bars and hot chocolate mix, spices, loose tea, and coffee beans. A colourful bowl made from coconut shell for candies or nuts might fill the bill. Or a New Internationalist calendar to start the year.

We're open until 9pm for quieter shopping every evening except Sundays until Dec. 23. On Sundays, on Dec. 24 & 26 & Jan. 1, we are open until 5 pm.
