It breaks our hearts to say this, but unless we can secure funding, Aquatics & Exotics will be closing our Exotic Animal Rescue Centre at the end of this month.
For the past four years, we've been there for the animals that had nowhere else to go.
We took in sick, injured, neglected, surrendered, and unhandleable reptiles, ferrets, sugar gliders, and other exotic pets that many other rescue organizations simply couldn't accept.
During that time, we helped over 100 animals recover, regain their health, and find loving forever homes.
For nearly two years, the rescue has continued without donations. Every enclosure, every heat bulb, every veterinary bill, every bag of food, and every medication has been paid for out of our own pockets.
Then came the repeated break-ins.
The cost of replacing windows, repairing damage, and securing the building has left us with nothing left to keep the rescue operating.
We never wanted to write these words.
But unless we can find the funding to continue, the rescue will officially close at the end of this month.
This is our final plea.
If there is a person, family, business, organization, or sponsor willing to help keep this program alive, please reach out.
Without support, Northern Ontario will lose one of its few places able to care for exotic animals that have nowhere else to go. The nearest specialized reptile rescue is hundreds of kilometres away in southern Ontario, making it much harder for local owners to find help.
We didn't start this rescue to make money.
We started it because these animals deserved a second chance.
