Violence exists in our community—and IWAV is here to help.

Sometimes people reach out because something doesn’t feel right, even if they don’t know exactly how to describe it.

Maybe you feel unsure in your relationship.
Maybe you’re walking on eggshells.
Maybe you’re trying to figure out your options or don’t know who to talk to.

You do not need to have the “right words” or be certain about what’s happening to reach out.

IWAV Outreach Services offers free and confidential support for women—including trans women—as well as non-binary and LGBTQ+ community members across Salt Spring Island and the Southern Gulf Islands. We also support caregivers seeking help for children and youth.

Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate care, strength, and the many ways people show up for one another.

At the Thrift Store, we see that every day—in the donations dropped off, the conversations at the counter, and the small moments of connection that make this place more than just a shop.

If you’re looking for a meaningful gift this Mother’s Day, consider something secondhand and full of story. At the Thrift Store, we turn second hand into second chances—with all proceeds going directly to support IWAV’s programs and services, helping ensure that support is here for those who need it.

Open Monday to Saturday. 10am – 4pm
We’d love to see you 💛

Today is Red Dress Day, the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People.

Across Canada, Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQ+ community members continue to face disproportionate levels of violence. This day is a time to honour those who are missing and murdered, to hold space for grief, and to recognize the ongoing impacts of colonial violence and systemic inequities.

Every day, all proceeds from the Transitions Thrift Store support IWAV and their anti-violence programs for individuals and families experiencing or healing from violence and abuse.

Red Dress Day is a call to remember - and a call to act.

You can take action by:
• Learning about the impacts of gender-based and colonial violence: https://amnesty.ca/red-dress-day/
• Supporting organizations doing this work, including IWAV: https://give-can.keela.co/2026-27-annual-appeal-donation-form

We each have a role in creating communities where Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people are safe, valued, and free from violence.

We know that responding to violence is not enough. We envision community working together to eliminate violence and abuse -through support, safe housing, prevention, and advocacy.
