Dough n’ Play

Announcement! If you’ve been following for a while, you know I (Hannah - the mom in this photo) have taken a large step back from running this dough biz. My photography work keeps me busy, and I just don’t have time to build and manage this one, too.

However, Z (my 9-year-old daughter) is quite the entrepreneur herself, and has decided to take over making and putting out the natural modeling dough that so many of you have come to love. After all, she’s been part of every step, from colour choices to mixing to measuring to packaging to labeling. I’ll continue to manage the social media accounts for her, but beyond that, I’m a helping hand when needed, and this girl’s got the reigns.

So, for any of you locals (no shipping at this time) who would like to restock your doughs or invest in a full play pack of doughs with wooden stampers/accessories, a fresh batch is coming this weekend. Let Z know if you’d like to call dibs on any of the tins she’s whipping up.

We have news about what’s dough-in’ on around here!
You’ve probably noticed it seemed like we dropped off the face of the planet. Production and advertising has all but dissolved around here because I jumped into purchasing this sweet little family-friendly business just before my photography business started BOOMING, leaving me with no time to spare on other projects (oh the many imaginings!) and desperately hoping that no one placed an order. Now, that’s a funny thing to recognize when you own a business - that you hope it doesn’t thrive because you can’t help move it forward any more!

With that realization, and the solid understanding that is where I most want to dedicate my passions, time, and efforts, I have officially closed sales on the Dough n’ Play website.

For the time being, while I try to decide what I want to do with this little dough biz, the website is still available to peruse, but orders cannot be placed there. I will, however, be whipping up a few batches throughout the summer for some donations to a children’s circle club I’ll be running on Salt Spring this summer, thanks to the generous Neighbourhood Small Grant from . I may just have some on hand for purchasing, so reach out via DM if you’d like to grab some.

Otherwise, thank you for all the amazing support and play, and I look forward to seeing more of you through my lens instead of in my order logs.

As a preschool teacher, I strongly disagree with the preconception that children lack empathy until taught. Toddlers are some of the most caring and empathetic humans out there, I assure you. ♥️
