Learn to Crochet lessons are available!
If you would like to learn to crochet, here's your opportunity.
I have put together four beginner-friendly lessons.
Each lesson runs approximately 2 hours.
I am happy to meet up at your favorite coffee shop or the public library in Kemptville for private one-on-one lessons.
I am also able to teach small groups of up to 10-12 people in a group setting if you have the space to host a Learn to Crochet Event. I've found that holding one lesson per month allows enough time to practice what you've learned before moving on to the next lesson.
Lesson 1: Crochet Basics & Single Crochet Stitch.
You will learn to hold the hook, create tension with the yarn, create a slip knot, create chain stitches, create single crochet stitches, and practice counting your rows and stitches.
The finished project is a coffee cup sleeve.
You will receive all supplies needed to complete this project, and you are expected to reuse the crochet hook for all subsequent lessons.
Lesson 2: Half Double Crochet Stitch.
You will learn to create the Half Double crochet stitch to make a scarf. This project will use skills learned from lesson one (slip knot, counting stitches, and rows) and help to keep your tension and stitch height/spacing consistent.
I'll let you know how much yarn is required; you provide the yarn and reuse the crochet hook.
Lesson 3: Double Crochet Stitch.
You will learn to create the Double Crochet stitch. You will learn to crochet in the Round and not in Rows.
The finished project will be a beanie hat or a headband/ear warmer. You supply the yarn, reuse the crochet hook. I'll provide the pattern/instructions for both items.
Lesson 4: Traditional Granny Square.
You will use the double crochet stitch in an easy repeat pattern, working in the round to create your choice of a continuous granny square lap blanket or 13 squares to make a tote bag.
COST:
Individual private lessons are $20.00 per person, per lesson. Each lesson is approximately 2 hours long.
Group Lessons are $15.00 per person, per lesson, with a group minimum of 4 people, up to 12 maximum. Each lesson is approximately 2 hours long, but could extend to 2.5 hours.
PAYMENT:
Cash and E-transfer are accepted.
MATERIALS:
All materials will be supplied for the first lesson only.
You will receive:
-5mm crochet hook.
-4 weight, mini skein of acrylic yarn.
-Stitch markers
-Yarn needle
If you attend more than one lesson, you will reuse the crochet hook and supply the yarn for your make-at-home projects.
You are free to sign up for one, some, or all lessons based on your level of interest. These lessons are beginner-friendly and also good as a refresher if you haven't crocheted in a while or want to learn a new stitch.
I have all of the lessons on my YouTube channel. Feel free to browse them and use them in between lessons for supplemental information once you start practicing at home.
