Happy new year!

What a strange time we live in. We haven't been very active for the past two years, but have some ideas for 2022 and beyond that we hope we can share with you.

We've started for a bit of fun to catalogue and share all the delicious vegan food we find and eat. If you're keen to see where all the tasty plantbased treats are, follow along!

In the spirit of reflection and looking to the future, here's a bit about where we started, what we've done and what we hope to do.

We started Tanemaki back in 2015 as a bit of a catch all for any projects we worked on.

Tanemaki means to plant a seed and watch it grow and we've tried to be intentional with our endeavours to bring about positive change.

We started with Vivarium, a board game that Corey published that sends an environmental message while teaching players about some cool animals. Vivarium ended up in over 30 countries and while not without issues, it was generally well received.

Next we started popping up at local food markets sharing Rina's delicious food. Rina's food was a hit and we were selling out at big events like The Collector Pumpkin Village Festival and The Nara Candle Festival. It was a lot for our two person operation! We did markets from 2017 - 2019 and it was really encouraging, but we wanted to try something new.

Enter Japon - we took over a cafe in Kingston and ran it as a restaurant for one night a month for twelve months. What an amazing opportunity it was! Each month Rina made a different menu and we chose a different local animal sanctuary to donate to. Once again we reached the limits of our little two person team and wrapped these events up in late November 2019.

Since then we've been waiting and planning for something more sustainable. Rina has continued to innovate with vegan food and Corey has been growing lots of fruit and vegetables. We're hoping some of our plans will come to fruition this year, but we'll have to see!

We hope 2021 treated you well, all things considered, and that 2022 is a year of growth, opportunity and joy for you and yours.

Rina and Corey

Hi!

I know you haven't heard from us in a while. We've put a pause on our food operations and haven't had much else going on. With all the madness in the world at the moment, it's been difficult to get momentum with our ideas and what we want to achieve.

However, we have been working on a new board game for quite some time now. Progress has been slow, but Kamuy now has a draft rule book and we're looking for reviewers to provide feedback.

If you're keen to take a look, please head to Kamuy - Board Game for the review details.

If you know anyone else who might be keen to check out the game, then please send them there too.

Thanks,
Tanemaki

Long time no talk!

We’ve been taking a rest and sowing some seeds.

Hopefully some will come to fruition in 2020, but in the mean time we’re just happy to pick fresh blueberries from our bush!

Thanks for all your support this year and looking forward to seeing what the new year brings~

Almost time for the Living Green Vegan Market 6 October 2019!

As much as we love making food for these events, we're excited to be customers this time around because we sure do love eating delicious vegan food!

Thank you to everyone who came last night!

We had a great time and are so grateful for all our regular customers who are on this adventure with us!

It costs approximately $1,400 to raise a wombat per year (about $116 a month). Together we raised $150 for Sleepy Burrows Wombat Sanctuary, so about a month's care for a wombat. Go team!

We've kind of settled into donating $150 at most events, even when it is more than 20% of sales because it kind of just became a benchmark minimum. Naturally, for the bigger events, we donate more.

Anyway, details for our last event will be up soon!

See you then. :)
