2024 Yamaha Teneré 700

This one wasn't in for more power.
Restrictions are getting so bad with new bikes. They run hot, the throttle isnt linear and with holes in fueling and ignition timming they are just not enjoyable to ride.

Sadly dyno graphs dont really show the improvements in feel, rideability, quicker throttle response, smoother roll on, cooler running motor, more reliable, lighter on fuel and better acceleration and top end.

Its a brilliant bike, with loads of features 😊

Ktm 1290 Super Adenture R

Before I got started on i spent quite abit of time looking through mapping on the ecu, a spent some time on the dyno and rode it abit.

The first thing I saw was that the fueling was ridiculously lean, running at or avoiding 14.7 afr for most of the usable power range only, this coupled with very high fan temps is definitely to meet strict emissions regulations.

The mapping on the electronic throttle plates needed lots of attention. Power came in very slowly with a big spike just before the midrange kicks in, then it dies off as the bike gets going.
Very frustrating for throttle control.

Ignition timing suffered the most, with restrictions put in to protect the motor from the lean air fuel mixture, high running temperatures and exhaust system

There were also top speed limiters and a few features that I could disable.

The bike mas much smoother and predictable throttle response, making it easier to smoothly get on and off the power bandit runs cooler and accelerates alot harder. Its a joy to ride now.

2025 Kawasaki 1100sx

The motor is tuned for bottom end and midrange power with loads of torque, but highly restricted at the bottom and no restrictions at all on top.

I got some big gains in smoothness, throttle response, acceleration at low throttle low revs, but at about 8000 torque drops off so there is not much that I could do

The bike runs super lean til about 6000 the very very rich on top.
Correcting this made a huge difference

A very nice bike, with all the bells and whistles, it must be a wonderful touring bike with all this torque.

Suzuki Gsf650... was very restricted- its much happier now that it can breathe 😊

2009 Gsxr1000 - some of the American models are very restricted with secondary throttle plates and ignition timing. Removing the restrictions and fine tuning the fueling got a 20% power increase and big gains in torque above 8000rpm.

Triumph Bonneville Bobber - black edition

A re-mastered 1940s classic with all of the modern tech, skill fully hidden away - fuel injection, rider modes, traction control, abs, modern brakes and suspension.

The cross plain twin gives the sound, feel and power delivery of a v-twin.

Sadly, its biased towards emissions very limited, it seems to be designed more for first time riders than enthusiasts.

I reset the auto-tuning target AFRs, lowered the fan temperatures, removed the top speed limit, made some big changes to smooth out the ignition timing and completely re-wrote the electronic throttle maps (in both modes) to give it more of a direct hand to throttle feel, the same feel that carbs would give.

In road mode - its raw, aggressive and has brutal power delivery - together with the sound and riding position, it feels exactly like you would expect a 1940s bike to feel.

In rain mode, the throttle is calmed down a lot, with power coming in much slower, smoother, but still delivering the same power at wide open throttle at max revs.

This bike is an experience to ride - Its like nothing I have every ridden before.
