Oftentimes, a simple weekend getaway looks like reading copious amounts in a comfy location, napping just as much, eating good food, and walking around a quiant neighborhood.

Cincinnati's historic Mariemont district was the perfect location for us to do all of that and more with my mom over the weekend. We stayed in the beautiful Mariemont Inn and right across the parking lot is the adorable Mariemont Village Bookworm. The neighborhood is also full of storybook style cottages and quiant local shops.

If you're looking for a reading retreat, these hotel rooms are tailor made for just that with big comfy beds with built in headboard lights and beautiful light pouring through the old windows. The attached restaurant breakfast is fantastic (so I assume other meals would be too) It was perfect for all of us!

What a fantastic, special, and fun event with Ashley Poston and Kirsty Greenwood at Joseph-Beth Cincinnati last night!! Both of these fabulous authors are as charming and funny in person as you can imagine. 🤩

Feels a little too much like summer. Let's reflect on a book I read in February during our massive snow storms.

Midnight Rooms is a fever dream of a book. Fae trickery, chaos, and unsettling situations. I was left just as confused as the protagonist and enjoyed every second of the weird ride. If you can imagine the ballroom scene from The Labyrinth mixed with a gothic crumbling dinner party, you might enjoy this book as much as I did.

Ugh Mondays. What a good evening to tuck in with a ghost story and the coloring books. I enjoyed Honeysuckle and Bone as a mystery. It's not one I would call spooky but there's a hint of found family, political scandal, plenty of drama, and some Jamaican folklore that make it a well rounded book.

Lake Erie Book Company and their fabulous coffee bar in Geneva (not on the lake), Ohio was a gorgeously cozy stop during our most recent trip to visit family. Everywhere you turn in this old general store and soda parlor turned bookshop and coffee bar gave pure eye candy. I had no problem finding a book and absolutely loved my peanut butter coffee!

We also stopped at Old Mill Winery for a yummy wine tasting and snack of cheesy bread. If you're a fruit wine drinker like me, you'll love their selection.
