On this day we honor the life of Paul Mullins, a man whose steady hands, generous spirit, and unwavering work ethic left a mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Paul spent 25 years at Smith Sawmill Service building and leading the Service Team, and in that time, he became far more than a coworker. He was a mentor, a problem solver, a steady presence, and a friend. His dedication to his craft was matched only by his dedication to the people around him.
Paul approached his work the same way he approached life - with patience, humility, and a quiet pride in doing things the right way. He didn’t need recognition to know his worth; he simply showed up, day after day, giving his best. And because of that, he earned the respect of many. His coworkers will remember his willingness to help, his calm in the middle of chaos, and the way he could fix just about anything with a wrench, a smile, and a little bit of stubborn determination.
But Paul’s legacy reaches far beyond the walls of the shop. He will be remembered by a multitude - family, friends, colleagues, and community members whose lives he touched in ways big and small. Whether it was a kind word, a shared laugh, or a moment of quiet understanding, Paul had a way of making people feel seen and valued. His memory lives on in the stories we tell, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.
Though his time here feels too short, the impact he made is lasting. Not just because the years he lived, but the way he lived them. With integrity. With heart. With a strength that never demanded attention but always inspired it.
May we carry his spirit forward in our own lives, honoring him through kindness, hard work, and the simple joy of being good to one another.
