🎨 Plant Spotlight: 🎨

Coleus (Solenostemon scutellarioides)

If you want massive color in your garden without waiting for flowers to bloom, Coleus is your answer! Known for its jaw-dropping, vibrant foliage, this gorgeous plant brings instant tropical vibes and endless color combos to any garden bed or porch pot.
Here is how to keep your Coleus happy and thriving in Central Florida:

🌟 Why We Love It🌟

Instant, Bold Color: From neon lime and deep burgundy to hot pink and copper, the foliage steals the show all on its own.

Versatile: It looks stunning massed in garden beds, tucked into mixed borders, or cascading out of patio containers.

Fast Growing: It fills in empty garden spaces quickly, giving you a lush, full look in no time.

🏡 How to Grow It in Central Florida🏡

Light: This is key! Classic Coleus loves the shade, but many modern varieties (like the 'Sun Coleus' types) are bred to handle our intense Florida sun. Just be sure to check the plant tag so you can put it in the perfect spot.

Water & Soil: Coleus loves rich, well-draining soil and consistent moisture. It will definitely let you know when it’s thirsty by drooping its leaves, but a quick drink perks it right back up!

Summer Care: Our high humidity can sometimes lead to leggy growth or downy mildew. Planting them with enough space for good airflow keeps them looking fresh and healthy all summer long.

Winter Care: Coleus is a tender tropical that hates the cold. Here in Central Florida, it’s typically grown as a gorgeous annual, though it can survive a mild winter if protected from frost.

🪴Quick Tip: 🪴

Pinch off the small flower spikes as they appear! This tells the plant to direct all its energy back into growing those big, bushy, colorful leaves.

☀️ Plant Spotlight: ☀️

Thryallis (Galphimia glauca)

Looking for a tough-as-nails plant that brings a burst of sunshine to your landscape all summer long? Meet Thryallis! Also known as "Rain-of-Gold," this beautiful evergreen shrub is a true Central Florida superstar.
Here is everything you need to know to grow it successfully:

🌟 Why We Love It 🌟

Non-Stop Blooms: It produces clusters of vibrant yellow flowers from spring all the way through the first frost.

Pollinator Magnet: Butterflies and bees absolutely love it!

Low Maintenance: Once established, it is incredibly drought-tolerant and deer-resistant.

🏡 How to Grow It in Central Florida 🏡

Light: Full sun is best! It needs at least 6 hours of direct sunlight to get that maximum, show-stopping yellow color.

Size: It naturally grows into a neat, mounding shape about 4 to 6 feet tall and wide, making it a perfect informal hedge or accent plant.

Soil & Water: It thrives in our sandy soil as long as it drains well. Water it regularly after planting, but once its roots are established, it can easily handle our dry spells.

Winter Care: In Zone 9B/10A, a severe freeze might cause some minor tip damage or temporary leaf drop, but don't worry—it bounces right back beautifully in the spring!

🪴 Quick Tip: 🪴

Give it a light trim in early spring to shape it and encourage fresh, bushy new growth for the upcoming blooming season.

Sunshine Ligustrum has been restocked!

Sunshine Ligustrum is the kind of plant that makes your landscape look professionally designed without demanding constant attention. Its vibrant golden-yellow foliage brings year-round color, brightening up entryways, garden beds, pool areas, and walkways like natural sunshine. Unlike older ligustrum varieties, Sunshine Ligustrum is non-invasive and doesn’t produce messy flowers or berries — just clean, colorful foliage that stays beautiful season after season.

It thrives in the Florida heat, handles trimming like a champ, and can be shaped into crisp hedges or left soft and natural for a more relaxed look. Whether you want a bold border, a pop of contrast against darker plants, or an easy-care foundation shrub, Sunshine Ligustrum delivers high-end curb appeal with minimal effort.

Bright color. Low maintenance. Instant curb appeal. That’s Sunshine Ligustrum.
