Cyanotype is basically old-school photography. It was invented in the 1840s and uses sunlight instead of a darkroom. We’ve been doing it on totes for a while, but socks felt more fun for summer. So now we do it on socks.

Same process, way more wearable.

August classes drop this Thursday! After that, we’re heading to West Seattle, and before we get there we’re clearing out the catalog, which means a lot of classes that may not make the move. Some of these might be your last chance to take them at The Works. Mark your calendars - you don’t want to miss this Thursday. We’ll be sharing the dates of our absolutely epic moving sale then too!

We ran our first Jesmonite class, and it did not disappoint!

Jesmonite is an eco-friendly casting material that you mix, color, and pour into a mold. In the class, we taught how to get a terrazzo effect and how to marble. No two pieces were alike!

I want to say thank you. When I moved our fundraiser off Kickstarter, I genuinely didn’t know how people would respond, but you have showed up.

We’re at nearly $13,000, which is almost the amount we raised on the original campaign, but the best part is the funds are already available. I’ve had some big checks to write this week and I was able to write them because of you. So thank you!!

I’m so excited to share some in progress pics of the space with you once we get our building permit. In the meantime, these will have to suffice.

I closed the Kickstarter. And honestly, I should have thought harder about the all-or-nothing part before I launched it.

84 people backed us. I wasn’t willing to risk every one of those pledges on a deadline. So we moved the fundraising effort to our own page. You get the same rewards, and every dollar goes directly to the build.

We are still doing this. We are still all in. We’re just doing it in our own way, on our terms.
