Coming soon šŸ‘ļøā€šŸ—Øļø Ashwini Bhat: Resonances!

Resonances is the first monograph by transdiscplinary artist Ashwini Bhat and traces her long-term personal survey of California’s ecology in this time of climate change, shifting habits, and devastating forest fires. Coming from a background in literature and classical Indian dance, Bhat works in sculpture, ceramics, installation, and video, and performance, developing a unique visual language that explores the intersections between body and nature, self and other.

Laurie Lambrecht’s observations of her natural surroundings—both close to home and around the world—come to form through both eye and hand in her lens- and fiber-based works. tēxēre, the title of this first monograph to focus on Lambrecht's interdisciplinary practice, is Latin for "to weave or intertwine" and is the etymological root of "texture," "textile," and "text"—three elements at the core of this lyrical and immersive volume.

Now available ✨ Mark Klett and William L. Fox: Remembering the Future

ā€œIt is estimated that nuclear testing in the 1950s and ’60s put four tons of plutonium-239 and 240 into the stratosphere. That means everyone born after BRAVO has been exposed. Our human bodies are part of the stratigraphic record of the Anthropocene. Dendrochronologists—the scientists who study tree rings—have identified a radiocarbon spike in every tree worldwide that dates specifically to 1954. Every tree alive then shows that spike, and that spike is also embedded in the strata of sediments at the bottom of BRAVO crater.ā€

Radius Books is pleased to announce that TRACY HILLS is now available for shipment!

ā€œIn capturing the paradoxically retrograde aspects of Tracy Hills’s ā€œFuture Villages,ā€ McIntosh and Muller reveal the essential vulnerability of the structures beneath, forcing the viewer to ponder the fictions of permanence and the facts of entropy.ā€
—  Britt Salvesen

Tracy Hills is a collaboration between Los Angeles-based photographers Ryan McIntosh (.e.mcintosh) and Yogan Muller () in which they explore and document Tracy Hills—a new master-planned community of 4,700 homes currently being built in the central valley of California. While the project revisits some of the tropes of the New Topographics era, the work underscores the distinctly twenty-first-century ecological issues that the anachronistic nature of this kind of community seems to deny: unpredictable access to water, elevated heat, unsustainable development.
