Our limited edition loose leaf parlor tea, The Botanist has returned.
This dreamy blend of lavender, elderflower, and sage enveloped in white peony tea is a gently caffeinated brew that makes for a tasty hot or iced beverage.
We pair it will our blackberry honey from Uncommon Bee for a hint of deep sweet fruit.
Our entire line of Morose & Macabre Loose Leaf Parlor teas are always available both instore and online, but this one only rolls around for Spring and Summer, so indulge while you can.

Well dang.
When Pittsburgh announced that we would be home to the NFL Draft, everyone got rill excited about "750k" tourists here.
Except.
Half of them didn't show up.
And.
They shut off all of the city streets downtown and rerouted traffic. They told the folks that live here that it would be impossible to get around, businesses would be packed, etc. So it scared all of the locals out of going anywhere all weekend.
It also made it so that people who came into town didn't leave the Northshore. They gave them activities, food from ghost kitchens, surging Uber rides, and no excuse to go out and explore.
The NFL Draft fu**ed every small business, restaurant, and tourist attraction.
And the city hyped us all into thinking this would be the best weekend ever.
It was the *actual* worst.
Businesses all over the city were dead. News articles are flying right now.
We've not experienced numbers this low in a Saturday for as long as I can remember. Deserted streets, our neighbors shutting down early...
This was nuts.

Anyways, we have a bunch of beautiful stuff available in our online shop. Maybe we can still salvage this weekend.

A note regarding Friday's National Strike Against I.C.E.....
By being a small, independent business we have already stepped outside the system the strike is against. Local independent businesses can provide those striking with an alternative economy which can help strengthen and lengthen strike movements.
THAT BEING SAID...
Weeping Glass is NOT a necessity business and we have a very small staff who are in a privileged position to be able to close in solidarity. WE WILL BE CLOSED.
Grim Wizard, however, WILL BE OPEN because we also believe a small business being open, offering a safe space, a community space, and somewhere to hold a conversation is important. We have served as that space in our community and will continue to do so.
Additionally our incredible staff is made up of trans and q***r community members who need support too. They've already been called off and let go early multiple times this week due to weather. Taking away income from marginalized people doesn't seem proactive.
During our open hours tomorrow, we encourage you to please use cash ONLY. Eliminate credit card processing fees and feeding the machine.
We will be donating a portion of the proceeds from sales to our neighbors in Beechview.
They are on the ground doing the hard work and providing resources during the fascist occupation of this current regime in cities all over America, including our own. They need support now more than ever to lift up our immigrant neighbors.

Know that we are a safe space. Know that we will stand up for you.

Here's some other ways to help with the economic blackout if you can't be closed or take off of work:
You CAN shop local and use cash, but limit spending as much as possible.
You CAN make a donation to mutual aid
You CAN wear clothing to support the cause
You CAN post on social media stating your position
You CAN call on Congress to stop to DHS funding
You CAN offer childcare or prepare a meal for someone who is striking
DO NOT PUT YOUR DOLLARS INTO CORPORATE POCKETS, PUT IT INTO YOUR COMMUNITY.

Thank you. Look out for one another. F**k I.C.E.

It has been a very long year (in a good but very busy way). Normally we push through for a few hours Xmas eve as well as New Years...but next year is looking like its going to be pretty wild, so we'll be taking some extra time off to decompress.
Tomorrow is your last shopping day before the holiday. We will be closed both 12/24 & 12/25.
We will also be taking off New Year's Eve as well as New Year's Day to get our store reorganized after the holiday chaos, take our inventory, and probably take a few naps. Be safe out there everyone and have a good holiday season however you celebrate, we'll see you tomorrow for Solstice and our last day open for the shopping season.

Tomorrow's annual Winter Solstice Celebration would not be possible without the hard work and sponsorship from local businesses and organizations who believe in the Winter magic that happens on the Hilltop and keep this event FREE for everyone.
❄️A special thank you to for their generosity in donating their warehouse space and other properties for this event each year. Thanks to them, we have a warm house for our artists Market and space to keep the Yule fire burning. They are always excited to assist in our antics!
❄️Thank you to for not only their monetary sponsorship but also the woman power that they provide volunteering for each event. These markets are a huge undertaking and we couldn't do it without Meg & Lexie.
❄️This event is also founded, sponsored, and run by our sister businesses
and who provide everything from prizes, to decorations, to flyers and posters, to sound gear. We strive to make these events a tradition and a special experience for everyone each year.
