Good morning all you little monkeys out there 🐒🐒 🐒

We are getting closer and closer to opening the doors to a space built around good food, good people, and real community here in South Philly.

What started as a small sourdough project has grown into something much bigger — a neighborhood bakery centered around naturally leavened breads, bagels, coffee, connection, and mutual support.

But opening a small business is expensive, and we still need help getting across the finish line.

We’re currently looking for local investors who believe in supporting small businesses, strengthening community, and helping create a space that truly belongs to the neighborhood.

April is here and we can’t wait to be outside on the regular again! We’ve extended our Thursday residency through April for all you beauties! Worry not though, starting in May, we’ll be moving just down the street on Thursdays afternoons to hang with our friends through the summer.

Hello all you little monkeys out there!

I’ve got some HUMONGOUS news…we signed a lease on a space and will officially put down roots in Point Breeze; the neighborhood in which I live. I’ve only had 47 panic attacks since the it happened. lol

Two and half years ago I left a teaching. A year ago today, I received notice that I could no longer bake in the space I had been using for the previous 8 months. I was given 2 weeks to move all my stuff, and honestly, I lost just about everything I had left in me. I had to shut down the popups and the small, but successful wholesale program I had built. It left me pretty depressed and unsure of what to do. BUT, thanks to the help of an amazing friend of almost 40 years, I got my taxes done, refocused my efforts, and started doing popups twice a week.

It’s been a crazy year of two steps forward, one and a half steps back, but growth is growth and I found a space that I can continue to grow into and do all of the community projects/activities/collaborations I’ve thought up.

It’ll be a minute before we can open our doors, as the space needs a complete build, but I cannot wait to welcome you all into our not so little corner at northeast side of S. 20th and Dickinson Streets.

We’re planning on retail with all your sourdough favorites plus breakfast/lunch sandwiches and more! We’ll have some sort of coffee program in partnership with a local coffee shop who we’ll announce in the future, work with local artists to give them space to display and sell their art, and soooo much more.

It’ll be fun and funky with great tunes and even better bagels. There’s a lot of work to be done and some may more hurdles to overcome, but f**k!!!We’re on our way! Lao Tsu was a pretty cool dude who said, “the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

Thank you to YOU! for all being on this journey with me! Without y’all there is no Brass Monkey. As a fellow monger told me, “we’re all in this together.” And damn if that ain’t the truth.

Anyways, I’ll see all youse in the gumbo soon!

F**k it’s almost February

2026 is off to a great start! We’ve got 1 more popup next Thursday and 8 popups in February starting off with a special market event on February 1st with our friend, of in collaboration with and -this is an all ages event. Entrance is to the event free and offers a pay-what-you-can for all food on Sundays.

There will be a bunch of other vendors there including, .me and .nyc

It’s gonna be a blast!!!
