RESCHEDULED DUE TO CONFLICTS! New date: 7/11

CALLING ALL WATER WOMEN. We’re hanging ten on 7/11 — it’s SEA-sters Day, a pop-up for and by local lady surfers. Featuring goods and art by .planet.creativeco, jewelry and massages by , tattoos by , and food for purchase from . Plus! We’re setting up tables and stands for you all to bring (gently) used gear—swimsuits, wetsuits, leashes, fins, paddles, flippers, and other beach items—to swap and boards to sell.

Born from a desire to foster more community in the Delmarva area amongst women-identifying surfers, this gathering is open to all ages. Whether you’ve been surfing a lifetime or just a few months (or never have but always wanted to!), join us! Come make new friends, say hi to old ones, and vibe 🏄‍♀️✨🫶🏼

*if you are bringing a surfboard to sell, please bring a towel for it to rest on or rack/stand if you happen to have. We do not take a cut of this, but we are also not responsible for your board, nor will we keep if afterwards if you do not sell it. Unwanted gear must also be taken with you after the event

Some of the most anticipated books of the summer are out this , and we are AMPED. See what’s here today, 6/2, and what we’re stoked to read/already read and loved:

NEW ANN PATCHETT!! WHISTLER, the 10th novel from one of America’s most cherished writers, about a woman reunited with her stepfather after decades, explores family, grief, love, reunification, and more, as her books do. Mickie says, “I can’t wait to take this home; Patchett is my ultimate comfort read, and I’ll keep WHISTLER on hand for the moment I need her soothing words and voice. I can already tell it will be beautiful.”

Meanwhile, Ryann loved GIRL’S GIRL by Sonia Feldman, “a sweet and special story about love and friendship hidden under a layer of one sun-soaked midwestern summer.” Ideal!

There’s also new fiction from Mickie favorite Maggie O’Farrell, author of HAMNET; Ruth Ozeki; Daniel M. Lavery; Mary Kay Andrews; and Deborah Levy. Plus, nonfiction for the dads: THE WRECK OF THE MENTOR; an account of Henry Ford and cross-country races; BEASTS OF THE EAST, about America’s eastern wilderness; and Chris Smalls manifesto for the working class.

Tomorrow is June—aka PRIDE MONTH!! Our favorite at this GAY ASS store :) Of course we have our giant celebration on 6/27 with — the Pride Parade on the boardwalk, and our Pride Party here at 5pm. But we also have two q***r authors appearing here this month—our resident romantasy local author @, and Baltimore's —as well as New Jersey beach-read writer Francesca Cocchi. Join us for any/all! June's coming up, and so are a new crop of book clubs. Because it's PRIDE MONTH (!), we're reading q***r-centric authors and books—beautiful, fun, and sexy stories that will open you up, and also are a treat to read. And we're super stoked to have 2 q***r authors celebrating new releases with us this month: TJ West, our resident romantasy writer; and Benny B. Peterson, a writer from Baltimore whose debut novel, The Maidenheads, follows former punk bandmates in a cooler rom-com-ish way. Catch Benny as part of Books & Bottles—which you *do* need to sign up for to get the book and wine together, though the reading with them is free, as all ours are. Join the club, or sign up as a discount-getting member of any other, on our site under Subscriptions. It's reading season, so join us!

First of summer and SHEW, what a drop! So many books out today, 5/26, that we won’t list them all, but here are the highlights from us:

First, the May Books & Bottles pick, THE MAIDENHEADS by , a perfect summer dramedy/q***r romance about a girl re-entangled with her former punk bandmate in Baltimore. Mickie fell hard for it: “It was just what I wanted to kick off steamy season; a lil sexy, a lot of fun, and with really beautiful moments on found family, especially in the q***r sense. And Baltimore setting! I can’t wait to have Benny here to talk about it.” Join us for that reading on 6/24!

And Lauren loved A CURSE OF BEASTS AND MAGIC by Jeaniene Frost. “Dragons, sirens, beasts I’ve never heard of, and more; a true connection between the main characters; romance and suspense. A perfect kick-off to a new fantasy series!”

There’s also some heavy-hitter hardcovers: new Matt Haig, for fans of heartwarming reads; the iconic Alan Moore, for the fantasy/sci-fi/dystopian set; David Sedaris, for fans of his brand of humor; BEFORE I KNEW I LOVED YOU, the latest installment in Toshikazu Kawaguchi’s cozy coffeeshop series; and a sleek special edition of Andy Weir’s THE MARTIAN.

And in paperbacks, HAVE A GREAT SUMMER by Francesca Cocchi, a romance set at the Jersey shore which she’ll be here to talk about/read from on 6/3—join us for that too!; new Frieda McFadden; and tons of beach-ready others. It ain’t summer without some SALT. The season’s here, baby, and so are everyone’s favorite bottles: Big Salt, the oceanic zesty white that screams seafood; Pink Salt, the bright berry rosé with sea salt; and Big Salt Orange, a tropical punch of a skin contact made for sitting in the sand.
