So I'm reading this book called:

"The Autistic Collapse: Understanding Autistic Burnout and Why Recovery Feels Like Grieving Someone You Used to Be".

I've been really struggling with depression these last couple of years, more than I ever have before. But a lot of what I was experiencing didn't seem to fit with more typical depression. This book has really been enlightening to me. These few passages especially so.

I've always struggled to "be myself". When I met Geek Unlimited (my husband for almost 16 years now), he encouraged me to be myself and not just parrot other people's opinions, likes, and dislikes back. He wanted to get to know "the real me". The problem was that I had no idea who that was. I've figured out bits and pieces now, but I'm still creating the real me as I figure out what I actually like and dislike. It's been a struggle, but also very rewarding when I realize something new about myself, and my people still love me and like being with me. It's positive reinforcement for being me, which is a really great feeling.

Man this one is so accurate. ADHD is contradictory and often makes you feel like a failure. Some days are better than others, but I've never met anyone that said that having ADHD is easy.
