The flowers have been taking center stage lately, but we have NOT forgotten about the Raised Beds!
One of the perks of our Raised Beds- they're easy to forget! We don't battle the weeds or have to schedule a weekend of tilling just to get our garden started. When we filled them we were intentional and set up layers of material that would break down over time- sticks, logs, leaves, etc. Now we top them off after each harvest and nature does the heavy lifting.
Years ago we fought the clay, we tried all the fabric pots, we sacrificed the flower beds- the evenings revolved around weeding. The garden we worked so hard for wasn't enjoyable, and the harvest was abysmal. Every year we had to replace buckets and pots, then tune up all the equipment just to get the ground ready for seedlings. We knew there was a better solution.
The beds took shape. We had room, we had good soil, we enjoyed gardening again! Our oldest beds are going on their 4th year and still have a long life ahead of them. Trust us, you won't regret it.
