🍎🍂 Homemade Crockpot Apple Butter – Set It & Forget It! 🍂🍎
If you’ve never made homemade apple butter, you’re missing out! It’s SO easy, absolutely delicious, and your house will smell amazing!
I made a batch using fresh, locally grown Honeycrisp apples from Fifer’s Orchards, and it turned out absolutely delicious! Of course we use other seasoning brands- I love Lane’s Apple Pie seasoning.
Ingredients:
* 10 large Honeycrisp apples, peeled, cored, and sliced- fill up your crock pot up
* 1 cup dark brown sugar
* 1 cup light brown sugar
* 1 tablespoon cinnamon
* 1 tablespoon or two of Lane’s Apple Pie Seasoning
* 1 tablespoon vanilla
* 1 tsp salt
Directions:
1. Fill your crockpot with the prepared apples.
2. Add the brown sugars, cinnamon, apple pie seasoning, and salt. Stir everything together.
3. Cover and cook on low for approximately 10 hours, until the apples are completely fork-tender. Add vanilla.
4. Use an immersion blender to blend everything until smooth and creamy.
5. Remove the lid and continue to cook stirring occasionally, to allow the extra moisture to evaporate and the apple butter to thicken.
6. Place a spoonful on a cold plate. If it’s watery and spreads, it needs more time. If it holds its shape and has that beautiful, thick consistency, you’re ready!
🫙 Storing Your Apple Butter
Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 1–2 weeks, or freeze for up to 6 months for best quality. For shelf-stable canning, follow a tested apple butter canning recipe (I got 6 half pints from this recipe).
And can we talk about this picture for a minute?!
