This past week has been filled with heartache, frustration, and a whole lot of uncertainty. I poured my heart and soul—countless hours, sweat, and tears—into my products and my booth at Painted Tree. To have everything come crashing down without warning has been devastating. It’s honestly hard to wrap my head around how a company could do this to so many small business owners who relied on those booths for income.
Now many of us are left out money—some more than others—and stuck wondering if we’ll ever see it. As if that isn’t bad enough, the email we received with “FAQs” basically told us we’re out of luck and need to file a claim through bankruptcy court. It’s beyond frustrating. Where did all the money go? Vendors paid rent, commissions were collected, and yet people weren’t even being paid properly. And now we’re being told we won’t receive payments for March or April either. The whole situation is sickening.
I’m still figuring out my next steps, but one thing is clear—now more than ever, small businesses need support. We are hurting.
I will be set up this weekend with my other business Double Trouble Dirty Sodas on Saturday at The 8801 for a Maker’s Market, and Sunday at Creative Collabs of Nebraska for LOCAL LOVE. I would truly appreciate you stopping by and showing your support.
