Hey Lincoln! I β₯οΈ local businesses. You guys know my love for local businesses and business owners, having been one myself. Lincoln has some of the most creative, giving, inspirational and kind community of entrepreneurs and people that Iβve ever been a part of.

But, that came to a screech Friday. Iβve been trying to find the words in between feelings of anger and tears of heartache. Watching my dearest bestie run a business during a world pandemic has been heart wrenching. But nothing, NOTHING, was as heart wrenching as the utter disrespect, harassment, threats, name calling and jerk moves that she endured the last 48 hours by people in Lincoln. Shame on you, families. Some of you I know from my days of Circle Me....and even from the days that I worked at LifeSTROKES. And I am speechless. Appalled. Shame on you for sitting behind that keyboard from the comfort of your home and blasting a woman that has nothing but YOUR FAMILIES best interest at heart. Money hungry you say? How about the fact that that money actually goes towards keeping the lights on and UV system running so that when this is all over YOU HAVE A SWIM SCHOOL TO COME BACK TO. You have NO idea the HOURS that have been spent looking at the SBA loans and Federal loans and HOURS and DAYS that have been spent on the phone with the governors office, HOURS spent on the phone with the health department to TRIPLE-QUADRUPLE check that if she were to open for lessons theyβd be in compliance and the swim environment would be SAFE for her families.

Oh her dear, dear families. Teaching your kids is her PASSION! She loves you like family. Teaching swim is a love that sheβs had since her teen years and a love and passion that is so contagious she instills it into each of her staff and instructors that teach your kids LIFE SAVING SKILLS. She came up with the best plan to ensure your kids were SAFE and able to keep building on their swim skills, but nope. You threw a FIT. A pure toddler temper tantrum because YOU were not catered to.

This is such a scary, unknown time for small business owners. MOST WILL NOT MAKE IT. Most will close because 2 months is to long to pay out of pocket with no income coming in. How about, instead of persecuting them from behind your finger typing cell phone or computer screen, you reach out and offer grace. Love. Offer to drop a coffee off. Purchase product. Bring them lunch. Share a Facebook or instagram post. BE A CHEERLEADER. And, for goodness sake, if you donβt have anything nice to say DONβT say anything at all.
I know LifeSTROKES will be fine. And I know her and her staff, though a little bruised, will be fine. Because she knows who, in the end she has to answer to. And her decisions are made after countless days and hours seeking His guidance and wisdom. He holds her, her staff and her business in His hands and His perfect track of faithfulness will not let her down. Our God is a faithful, loving, kind God who cares about the details. And will work them out. Just how they are supposed to.
I know our community is better than this. Go out and love on a small business today.
Only kind comments below. If you donβt have anything nice to say, donβt say it. β₯οΈ
