Northwest Timber We specialize in high grade heavily figured native hardwood timbers. Quilted/Curly/Burl Maple, Myrtlewood and Claro Walnut, are our focus.

We also carry old growth vertical grain Port Orford White Ceder, Musical Madrone Burl and Curly Eastern Cherry. Our story:
Northwest Timber specializes in highly-figured hardwood lumber, such as Quilted Maple, Figured Claro Walnut, and Oregon Myrtlewood. These rare and beautiful woods are sought after by furniture and instrument makers around the world. The highly-figured Quilted Maple lumber is p

erfect for acoustic, electric, and arch bass guitars, as well as violins and mandolins. Our hardwoods are individually selected and graded for their unique figure and premium quality. A large amount of lumber is kept together through the entire milling and drying process. The 12" and wider boards are sawn in sequence and numbered into bookmatched sets. This allows customers to buy color-matched hardwood lumber for their furniture building projects. In the photo gallery are examples of quilted maple lumber and other exotic woods. "I don't know if Jack sent this to you but I wanted to share with you , and thank you for helping Jack with the blanks for his guitar.

Jack worked with me to cut out his body (It was one of the first programs we ran on our new CNC) and Paul Elliot at Uptown Music in Keizer to order parts and set up his guitar.

It took him a while to get things done... and he had to pivot to a Maple face over a Walnut body. He was less than skilled on the bookmatch cut and we had to make lemonade out of lemons. But the guitar turned out great.

This picture is from his Senior Speech- He wore the strings off it playing it and he hasn't had an opportunity to finish it. It took him too long to get it built and he didn't have time to get the finish on it that the top wood deserves.
