We use local, high-quality ingredients, including organic coffee roasted only 10 minutes away, flour from wheat grown and milled in NYS.

We are just blown away. Thank you for the warmest welcome we could have ever hoped for. So grateful for all of your support!

We sold out often and honestly, I love that it shows how much high quality, locally sourced ingredients resonate with all of you!

I’m working on increasing quantities where I can but it’s still just me baking so small batches are here to stay for both freshness and quality. So if there’s something you’re been eyeing, come early while it lasts!

We’re back open tomorrow (Thursday-Monday 7:30-3)! See you soon!

You may have seen some action at the café this weekend. We hosted a friends & family practice run, and it went so well! It was an invaluable chance to learn, tweak, and fine-tune the flow so opening weekend feels smooth for everyone who walks through the door.

According to the feedback from everyone, the baked goods were out of this world! My recipes and high-quality local ingredients truly came through in every bite.

And hearing how warm, cozy, and inviting the space felt meant so much to us. We’ve poured so much care into creating a place that feels good to be in.

We’re almost there! See you all on Friday (5/1).

Our hours from that point forward will be Thursday-Monday from 7:30am to 3pm.

Ingredient Spotlight #2: Flour

All of the flour we use comes from , where organic wheat is grown and milled right here in New York State. Their flour retains more of the grain’s natural character, with some of the bran left in for added flavor and nutrition.

We use a range of their flours throughout the café, each chosen for purpose: high-extraction flour for the chewy texture of our bagels, rye flour for the subtle nuttiness in our sourdough batards, All Purpose for the best of all worlds lending to perfectly craggy English muffins, and more!

Can’t wait for you all to taste the difference when we open on May 1st!

Every ingredient used in our products has been chosen with intention. From the beginning, we’ve been painstakingly methodical about sourcing the best ingredients we can find. Whenever possible, that has meant choosing local! Not only to support fellow small businesses, but because we believe it’s better for our bodies, better for the environment, and better for the community we all share.

From the flour in our breads and baked goods, to the dairy in our drinks, to the sausage and bacon on our breakfast sandwiches, we’ve worked hard to source close to home.

Many of the ingredients we use come from less than 10 minutes away!

This is the start of a little series where we’ll share more about the people and products behind what we serve ☺️

It’s finally starting to feel like Spring and you know what that means… the Middle Brook Cafe is opening!
I’m so excited to share that we will be opening our doors on Friday, May 1st!
Hours from then on will be Thursday-Monday from 7:30am-3pm.
Everything will be made in small batches as we learn what you’re loving most so some things may sell out. Bear with us!
The space and recipes have been slowly coming together. Flip through the pictures to see what’s been going on behind the scenes.
More to come soon (including what you’ll actually be eating and drinking), but for now… we have a date.

Big milestone unlocked 🌱✨

I just wrapped up a 10-month professional culinary program specializing in plant-based cooking and baking. No, I’m not suddenly becoming a vegan-only kitchen.

What I did gain is a much deeper understanding of technique, food chemistry, and how ingredients behave (especially when you remove the safety net of animal products).

Learning to cook and bake without leaning on butter, eggs, or dairy requires deep knowledge and forces creativity, and that skill translates everywhere.

I haven’t opened yet (still on track for spring!), but this certification is part of laying the groundwork for delicious food when our doors do open. In fact, I’m currently in Vermont taking intensive bread classes at King Arthur!

Excited to share the fruits of my labor with you all in a couple months!

ICYMI: Our first newsletter went out sharing some progress as we work toward opening in just a few months.

Exciting day at the cafe! The coffee equipment has arrived and I got to make the inaugural latte! Even in our little temporary set up, the space is feeling like it’s coming together.

✨ A New Chapter Begins ✨

Hello! We’re Kim and Dan (who likes to stay behind the scenes), the new owners of 170 Main Street, and we’re so excited to share that this beautiful space will soon become Middle Brook Café — opening this spring! ☕🌿

Middle Brook Café will be a cozy spot for espresso drinks, teas, sweet treats, and more. A place to slow down, connect, and recharge.

I also want to take a moment to recognize and thank the incredible women behind Middle Brook Mill. Over the past three years, they built something truly special — a warm, welcoming space and a wonderful community that I deeply admire. I feel so lucky to carry forward that same spirit of connection as I bring this next chapter to life.

Stay tuned for updates as we get the space ready. We can’t wait to welcome you in this spring!
