We wanted all our Storytime friends to know what’s going on for the summer. Are we? Aren’t we? Can you make it? Are you away? Can we make it? 😬 Are we away??

Worry not Storytimers, we are taking a well deserved summer break from our Sunday Storytimes. Once school starts up again in September we will be back at it every other Sunday. We will have fun new books, songs, and even kids authors for a bigger better Storytime with Miss Alyssa!!

Have a wonderful summer with family, friends, and good times!! Miss Alyssa is taking a break too and she will be ready to get back at it very soon 🥰

Enjoy your summer and we will see you in September ☺️

Love Local Night is tonight!! It’s going to be a beautiful night so why not come see what we’ve got going on??

To start, any of our friends will enjoy 10% all books all day for Love Local Night 🥰 We’re making a day of it!!

It’s the last Thursday of May so any educator or member of support staff with a school issued ID gets 20% off all books. We just want to give something back to all the dedicated educators and staff that work so hard 🥰 Come stock up for your summer reading!!

We’re open later tonight so more of our friends can stop in and say hello. We’re here until 9pm tonight and we’re offering all friends, old and new, 15% off from 6-9pm in honor of Love Local Night!! Wow. That’s a lot huh? Probably should’ve been a phone call 😂

You don’t have to come to Moore Books today but you really should get out tonight. It’s going to be a beautiful night weather wise! There’s all kinds of cool things going on and you should stop out and check them out. Or you could sit home and doom scroll. You do have a 27 night streak going so you wouldn’t want to break that 😬

In all seriousness community is important and the hustle and bustle of daily life clouds that for us all at times. Take tonight to reset yourselves. You can hole up tomorrow night and start a bigger, badder doom scrolling streak.

We hope to see you today ☺️

Weird that we have to say it but… Moore Books will not stock books written by AI. We don’t care what Skynet has to say on any matter. We only stock books written by humans for humans. What the bots don’t have or understand is nuance of the human condition. All the Terminator can do is steal what’s already been written and regurgitate some average imitation of real works without understanding why. Weak.

Narnes and Boble came out and said they will stock books written by the bots. Well good for them, at least they’ve come out and told you who they are and where they stand. When people show you who they are… believe them. Now it’s up to you. Is convenience and instant gratification worth selling our collective souls for computer generated trash?

Narnes and Boble would rather profit off slop than take a stance against it. If AI slop is what you want to read you know where to go. They seek endless profits. Moore Books seeks community. We want to build something with you, our community… a safe space of reading and understanding, fun events and community outreach. The big guys just want to shake you by your ankles until every penny falls out of your pockets so they can scoop them up for themselves. We are not the same.

So, hard pass on the Artificial Intelligence written anything, especially books. Go to Narnes and Boble if slop is your fancy, we only have human books for humans. Thanks for coming to our TED talk.

The thing you’re craving doesn’t live on a screen and it certainly wasn’t written by a robot.

What did you do yesterday? Us? We had about 30 friends over to meet at our place. Brian met with of to discuss his new book of photographs taken while touring called The Road, published by

Things we learned at the event:

1. Sometimes people are exactly who you think they are including Brian Baker, Ian McKaye, Greg Graffin, and Johnny Temple.
2. If building community is your drive, good things will come and that’s what we’re trying to do here ☺️
3. Brian Baker is a Mets fan because of George W Bush and red hats 😂His reasoning made sense to even the Phillies fans in attendance.
4. Greg Polard has forgotten more about music than you or I will ever know ☺️
5. We have the BEST friends 🥰
6. Shockingly when you hang out at Glenn Danzig’s mom’s house, you spend your time eating and watching horror movies 🥰
7. Brian Baker is chiseled out of granite 😳Super sleeper build but DAMN. Bro is strong as an ox!
8. We all just make up life as we go along so why not try and go a little bigger?

Thanks again to all who came out and made the day special with us! Days like yesterday are why we do what we do. To build a community around books and music and interesting things it takes folks making the time for that community and for that we are very thankful!!!

We will be displaying and discussing photos from the book, then we will have a Q&A session with Brian and Greg, and finally a signing session. Tickets include entry to the event, a copy of The Road, and a hand cut, hand numbered collectors ticket.

The Unvanquished: The Untold Story of Lincoln’s Special Forces, the Manhunt for Mosby’s Rangers, and the Shadow War That Forged America’s Special Operations. Quite the mouthful.

On the cover, Sergeant Joseph Firth of Blazer’s Scouts stares out hauntingly. Sergeant Firth was killed by friendly fire in a horseback firefight with rebels. The shot came from a newbie who was rushed into action in Lincoln’s (better late than never) decision to meet Jeff Davis where he already was… irregular warfare. Irregular in that there were no longer rules. Men wore the other side’s uniforms and operated behind each other’s lines.

Colonel John Singleton Mosby, the “Gray Ghost” was the commander of the 43rd Virginia Cavalry Battalion known as Mosby’s Rangers. For all of 1863 Mosby and his fiercely loyal band of rangers wreaked havoc on the Shenandoah Valley, pilfering Union supply trains, dignitaries, Union loyalists, and any Union spy not at the top of their game.

This is an enrapturing narrative about a clash between two inevitable forces and ideologies, fought in the backwoods, the hearts and minds of the locals, and shady dignitaries performing clandestine activities in foreign lands. The Union, the Confederacy, Mexico, Canada, and France all have their hands dirty in this book.

The story is filled with extraordinary tales of spycraft, heroic endeavors, double agents, secretive female spies, and will they won’t they tension. Lincoln did not want to engage in this style of war, but Jeff Davis was mopping the floor with them and dragging the war out, which only favored the Confederacy. So, reluctantly he acknowledged the Jesse Scouts and issued the command to hunt down and kill Mosby’s Rangers. Mosby and his rangers were involved with John Wilkes Booth and the assassination attempts on Lincoln, including the eventual successful one. As well as transporting Davis out of Richmond.

This is a must read for fans of history, spy stories, and who dun it’s. It’s filled with action, mystery, even hints of the paranormal. Stop in and grab a copy today!
