The Story of Juli
Juli grew up in South Asia in a very poor family. At the age of 13, she wanted to work and help support her parents. When a friend promised her a well-paying job in another city, Juli accepted the opportunity, hoping to provide a better future for her family.
However, when she arrived, Juli discovered that she had been sold. For years, she endured exploitation, abuse, and control. Eventually, she was able to escape and return home, only to learn that both of her parents had passed away. With no one to support her, Juli returned to the only means of survival she knew.
Because of a previous negative experience, Juli was distrustful of nonprofit organizations and hesitant to engage with our programs. Through the encouragement of another woman who had benefited from our center’s vocational training programs, Juli gradually began visiting our center. For several months, she simply observed our activities before deciding to participate herself.
Today, Juli regularly attends our center, where she is learning to read and write and is enrolled in our sewing program. She also helps make our Good Money bracelets. Juli is now the mother of three children, and we are helping to ensure they remain in school. She dreams of one day opening her own tailoring shop.
Juli has also experienced significant personal and spiritual growth. She actively participates in prayer meetings, enjoys studying Scripture, and is diligently learning to read so that she can independently read the Bible, we gave her.
Her story is a powerful testimony of resilience, restoration, and hope as she builds a new future for herself and her family.
