We think this is year 5 in Drew’s hometown of Macon at Christmas Made in the South.

Drew + Kim on a rainy Wednesday night.

Here’s the raw truth…

For over a decade Drew and I worked with teenagers on Wednesday nights. Wednesday night Church was our life. It was truly some of the sweetest memories and best seasons.

I never fully understood why parents would at times drop their kids off for Youth Group, and bail.

Why didn’t they go to the men’s group or ladies group?

Couldn’t they DATE on another night?

Well.. here we are , the Drew & Kim of 2026. We are on year 2 or 3 of Wednesday night “date nights”.

Wednesday nights are pretty sacred to us.

I’m not really sure how it started other than our two kiddos would go to Church and then the two of them had brother/sister dinner. Just the two of them.

So we found ourselves being alone at dinner.

Truth is, we aren’t alone very often.

Yes we work together EVERY day.

Yes we live together.

But to have a dinner - alone. It became crazy special.

Since we first found out we were expecting our Maddy, Drew always said, “we have to stay healthy to raise healthy kids” & “if we do this right, they will leave us and start their own families”

He was right.

Our marriage is priority.

It’s supposed to be.

Is Church a priority, absolutely - but in this season the ministry to each other consumes us for a few short hours on Wednesday nights.

It’s one of the only times during the week we get to be just us.. “Drew and Kim”

We aren’t:
Parents
Kids
Bosses
Entrepreneurs
Problem solvers

We are just us… and it’s so special.

Whatever season you are…

It’s ok to prioritize your marriage.

It’s ok for your Kids to see you prioritize and date their spouse.

If you are single it’s ok prioritize yourself.

(This is NOT about missing Church. Church is so valued, needed, and prioritized to us. It just happened to be the only night we don’t have dinner with our kids… I’ll post about that another time 😉)

It doesn’t have to be fancy to be intentional.

Tonight was dirty hair, sweatshirts, oysters, side salads and and for an hour and half our fast paced world stopped. 💕
