📣 MORE DEMAND IS A GOOD PROBLEM TO HAVE… UNTIL YOU NEED A BETTER SYSTEM!
🚨 NOVEMBER UPDATES FOR ROLLING RACK 🚨
If there’s one thing I’ve learned in the past year of running Rolling Rack Thrift Co., it’s that sometimes a business doesn’t need to grow faster. Sometimes it needs to slow down, get organized, and build the infrastructure to support the growth that’s already happening.
And that’s exactly where we are right now. ✨
We’re making some changes to how we operate so we can continue serving Fairview and the surrounding community in a way that’s sustainable, organized, and manageable long-term.
For those who have been here since the beginning, you know Rolling Rack started with a simple page and an idea. We officially passed our ONE-YEAR mark in September 🥳 and what started as a little thrift business has grown into so much more than I ever anticipated!
I’ve always told other people starting businesses that they NEED a business plan, but somehow, when I started Rolling Rack, things took off so quickly that I never stopped to finish mine. 🫣
I’ve spent the past year building and organizing inventory, creating programs, attending events, planning parties, coordinating donations, managing online sales, and trying to keep up with an incredible amount of community interest.
Here’s something they don’t always tell you about entrepreneurship: Having more demand than you can keep up with is a GOOD thing, but only if you have the systems, resources, and support to meet that demand.
Right now, the demand is there. The infrastructure needs some work. And I need to be honest with myself about what one person can reasonably handle in a day. 🫶🏻
Between messages coming through Facebook, Instagram, Marketplace, my personal accounts, the business phone, and word of mouth, I can easily receive 10–15 messages a day just asking about individual items, specific sizes, selling clothes, donations, appointments, and other requests. I often have 5-10 messages and calls come in before 9am on a Sunday 🙈 Our auto-reply currently reflects a one week response time and being from the customer service industry, prompt communication is usually my strong suit so I need help tightening up the communication channels 😁
Add inventory management, coordinating with my team, preparing for events, fulfilling orders, answering questions, and actually SELLING the clothes, and it becomes a full-time job just keeping everything organized.
I’ve reached the point where I can spend an hour going back and forth with someone about an item, searching through inventory for something they’re looking for, or arranging a meetup that ultimately doesn’t happen. These are simply the realities of operating a growing resale business without a traditional storefront, and I need to make some changes before I burn myself out completely.
When I started Rolling Rack, one of my biggest goals was to build something that would allow me to spend MORE time with my children.
Somewhere along the way, I fell into the trap that so many entrepreneurs experience: working constantly and still feeling like there’s always something else that needs to be done.
I’ve been working 16-hour days, missing time with my family, and struggling to keep up with personal relationships because I’m always trying to catch up on business. I can’t miss another soccer game 🥲
I’m also working on our business plan, getting our financials organized, and preparing for investor meetings and future growth opportunities. I’m taking time to evaluate what the next chapter of Rolling Rack should look like, including whether a physical storefront could be the right move.
Fairview has such a need for affordable clothing options, and I believe there is real potential for Rolling Rack to grow into something even bigger. I want to be able to invest more in marketing, support local sports teams, participate in community events, and create more opportunities for people to shop with us.
But to do that, I need to step back, get organized, and build a solid foundation.
I want Rolling Rack to grow, but I also want to be present for my family while I build it. 🫶🏻

📦 1. THE SELL YOUR STUFF PROGRAM IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED
This program has been SO popular, and I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who wants to sell with us! However, the amount of incoming inventory, sorting, pricing, organizing, and storage required has become more than we can currently keep up with.
For now, we’re pausing new selling submissions while we work through the inventory we already have and restructure the program.
WE ARE STILL ACCEPTING DONATIONS! 💜
Incoming donations help us continue donating as much as we can to those in need the community in trying to fill credible requests we receive. If you’d like to drop off items as a donation or request a free pickup of items you’d like to donate, you can still visit our website and complete the Sell Your Stuff contact form.
Simply select DONATION on the form so we know you’re requesting a donation rather than submitting items for our selling program.
If you have items you’d eventually like to sell with us, you’re welcome to submit the form online as well. Please understand that the selling program is currently closed, and submitting the form does not mean we’re accepting your items immediately. You’ll be placed on our waitlist, and we’ll reach out if and when we’re looking for the types of items you have available.

🏡 2. PORCH-DROP SHOPPING APPOINTMENTS ARE STILL AVAILABLE!
Our porch-drop appointments are continuing as usual, and this is one of the BEST ways to shop with us!
Did you know you can request a porch drop for just about anything? We utilize our pink drop-off bins instead of full racks for requests like:
👖 Boys’ size 5T jeans
👚 Women’s medium sweaters
🧥 Girl’s Size 6 dresses and jackets
Here are our porch-drop pricing options:
✨ $3 Rack: All items on these racks/bins are $3 each.
✨ Mixed-Price Rack: A selection of items priced from $2–$25 each.
As long as you spend a minimum of $5, there is NO porch-drop fee!
Please visit our website to request your appointment and select the option that works best for you. This helps us keep everything organized and ensures we have the correct information for your request.
IMPORTANT: We are no longer offering in-storage-unit shopping appointments at this time. All shopping appointments will be porch drops.
This change allows us to keep our inventory organized, protect items that are being prepared for other sales and events, and make sure our team is working from the same inventory information.

Depending on the item and arrangement, purchases can be picked up locally, delivered, or shipped. We also offer reduced shipping rates on eligible orders! 🚙 💨
Our current local pickup location is on Horn Tavern Road, and we’re working toward establishing one or two additional local pickup spots in Fairview to make shopping with us even more convenient.
A QUICK NOTE ABOUT INDIVIDUAL ITEM REQUESTS: If you’re searching for something specific, please browse our online listings and photo albums first. If you don’t find it please fill out a porch drop request for that item and we will message you if we have it in stock, send pictures, etc.
That way, we can spend our time helping you through an organized shopping process rather than searching through inventory one message at a time.

Nothing is changing with our party and event offerings!
We still have so many ideas for fun, affordable shopping experiences, and I’m especially excited about the possibilities for indoor events as we head into the colder months.
