Faith is rarely formed alone.

Many of us can point to someone who helped shape our faith—a grandparent who prayed for us, a Sunday school teacher who listened, a mentor who walked with us through difficult questions. Faith is passed from one generation to the next through relationships, stories, and shared experiences.

As churches seek new ways to nurture these connections, the Fall 2026 Shine Curriculum will include a new Flex Session designed to create space for intergenerational engagement and learning. It's one of the ways Shine is adapting to support the ways faith is formed in today's church communities.

Who helped shape your faith journey and who are you intentionally investing in?

💛 Keep the conversation going! If your church is using the Path to Peace Inside curriculum, these simple activities can help your family engage with this Sunday’s Bible story, Let the Children Come, throughout the week. Explore easy ways to bring faith into your home life.

📚 Read pages 252–253 in The Peace Table: A Storybook Bible or Mark 10:13–16. Have the adults and older children tell stories about what they remember from when they were young children.

🙏 Pray a blessing for one another. When we bless someone, we ask God to provide good things for that person, such as protection, healing, or comfort. Offer a blessing to each other such as this one: May God bless you with joy and love.

🎶 Sing “Jesus Loves Me” putting the names of your family members in place of the word “me.”

What does it really mean to be the church?

In the new Reach youth curriculum unit, “Being Church,” students will explore how church is more than showing up on Sundays. Instead, it’s a way of life—formed by practices that continue the work Jesus began during his time on earth.

Through stories from the book of Acts and guidance from the New Testament letters written to early Christian communities, youth will discover how the earliest followers of Jesus learned to live, grow, and serve together—and what that means for churches today.

This unit helps students connect the story of the early church with their own faith communities and imagine what it looks like to live as the church right where they are.
