Maybe the goal isn’t to build a life you need a vacation from. Maybe the goal is to build a life you don’t need to escape from.
That quote stopped me in my tracks today.
For years, I was always moving. Building. Creating. Chasing the next goal, the next event, the next deadline, the next thing that needed my attention. My days were filled with work, responsibilities, and a never ending list of things waiting to be done.
And while I’m proud of what I built, somewhere along the way I forgot to enjoy the life I was working so hard to create.
Lately, I’ve been paying attention.
To the little moments that would have once slipped by unnoticed.
To the sunlight pouring through the windows in the morning.
To the walls I’ve wanted to paint for years.
To the ideas and possibilities that have been patiently waiting while I focused on everyone and everything else.
To a giant Great Dane wandering through the living room, reminding me that not every moment needs to be productive to be meaningful.
I’ve been realizing that maybe this is what I was working toward all along.
Not a perfect life.
Not a finished life.
Just a life that feels like mine.
A life filled with beauty, creativity, peace, and room to breathe.
I’m discovering that sometimes the next chapter isn’t about building more.
Sometimes it’s about finally enjoying what you’ve already built.
What if you gave yourself permission to enjoy the life you’ve been creating all along?
