Today we had the honor of welcoming the newest Denver Police Department cadet class to the Far East Center as part of the Before the Blue and Beyond the Badge program. Congratulations to the 50 new cadets beginning their journey in public service! 🎉👮♂️👮♀️ I am also extra excited to meet the 6 new officers that will be in district 4.
The cadets visited Far East Center and Little Saigon to learn more about the diverse communities they will serve throughout Denver. We had the opportunity to share the history of Truong An Gifts, the Far East Center, and the story of how refugees and immigrant families helped build the vibrant cultural district we see today.
Programs like Before the Blue and Beyond the Badge are so important because they create meaningful connections between law enforcement and community members before officers ever put on the badge. By learning about Denver's different cultures, traditions, businesses, and neighborhoods, these future officers are better prepared to serve with understanding, respect, and compassion.
Thank you to the Denver Police Department, District 4, and everyone involved in making this program possible. We are always proud to be included as a stop and to share the history, culture, and heart of our Little Saigon community.
