Today was a reminder of why our stories matter. ❤️✨
Thank you, Sandy Battulga from Denverite and Colorado Public Radio, for coming to History Colorado to listen so deeply to the voices of our Little Saigon Denver CO. community. Your compassion and curiosity helped bring out stories that so many of us have carried quietly in our hearts for decades.
One of the most touching moments was hearing Ivy Ha share her journey—from arriving in a new country, learning how to cut hair, and building a small salon that soon became a safe place and gathering space for so many Asian families. Her daughter Joie Ha, now the Executive Director of Colorado Asian Pacific United - CAPU and one of the leaders behind the Big Dreams in Denver’s Little Saigon exhibit, continues that legacy of courage, creativity, and community care.
This exhibit is more than history on a wall.
It is the pain our parents endured, the sacrifices they made, the dreams they held onto, and the new beginnings they built out of nothing. It’s the story of Little Saigon—what it meant to our families, and the future we hope it can become for our younger generations.
Thank you for helping us share this love, this memory, and this hope with the world.
Our community is seen. Our stories are heard. And our hearts are full. ❤️🌸🇻🇳
