Story time!
I have to admit... I have a hard time with social media and here's why...
Before moving to Crivitz, we lived in Green Bay. The busy, the hustle and bustle, the noises, the street lights, and not being able to let our children play in the backyard without worry someone would take them. I craved the solitude of a homestead.
It seemed like our dreams had finally become a reality. We were given an opportunity to build a house in the country in Mishicot, Wisconsin. The land was an old farmstead with many falling down outbuildings and a very large home that would need to be torn down. So, in the spring just a couple weeks after giving birth to our 4th child, we sold our house in Green Bay. We took our 4 children and 2 dogs and lived in a camper on the property so we could clear the land and build our new home. We spent months clearing and tearing down buildings. We prepared the house for a fire training and was eventually burnt down. At that time, lumber prices were insane, so we decided to wait to build the house until the following spring in hopes the prices would come down. The plan was to build a large garage to live in while we waited.
Unfortunately, things didnt work out and God had a different plan for us.
In November of that year, we moved back into Green Bay on a very short term lease. I was devastated. I couldn't believe we were back in the city. I prayed constantly hoping God would show us our next step.
And then he did... with the end of our short term lease approaching, in desperate desire for a homestead I posted on facebook. I was sent a message about a property up in Crivitz, it was the perfect size, and the house hadn't been listed yet.
We took the trip up to the Northwoods to take a look! I fell in love instantly. My husband... not so much and needed convincing as he was now being asked to drive an hour to and from work every day. But, we bought it, and I filled it up with animals.
Fast forward to today... I have melted into this property. The solitude I find in my homestead and my animals is unmatched anywhere else. I am so thankful that our children can freely run, play and learn around our land everyday. Where they get first hand knowledge of how to work hard, grow food, forage and survive.
A home where we don't really need television or internet, and I can easily leave my phone or even lose it for the entire day or more. If it wasn't for the business, I would write it off completely. I am not a social media influencer or have any desire to be tied to my camera all day.
I'm just a mom who searched for a homestead where she could live the quiet life with her husband and kids.
Thanks for supporting this dream, even though I go M.I.A. sometimes!
