A small hot spot can end a great hike faster than you think... but most blisters are preventable.
MudGear founder Alex Thrasher recently joined The Rucker’s Edge podcast to talk about the common mistakes that lead to blisters and how hikers can protect their feet mile after mile.
A few places to start:
🥾 Choose moisture-wicking performance fibers or merino wool instead of cotton, which holds moisture against the skin and increases friction.
🥾 Look for light-to-medium cushioning. Excess bulk can trap heat and moisture—and may create more movement inside your footwear.
🥾 Prioritize fit over price. Your shoes should hold the heel securely without excessive movement; heel-lock lacing can help reduce rubbing.
