Harvard Book Store is seeking a manager, for immediate hire, who will lead the day-to-day operations of our upcoming second location at 33 Union Street in Boston. The Store Operations Manager is instrumental in creating and maintaining a positive work environment, developing an engaging customer experience, and overseeing daily operations. We expect this new location to be a major destination for book and pastry lovers far and wide, including the many tourists who visit Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market, and the Freedom Trail. Readers and book lovers wanted! The successful candidate believes in the value of books and reading.

So as your landmark independent bookstore, we're here to remind everyone the ways shopping small has a big impact. For our part, we regularly host New England authors for their debut events, and host a monthly book circle. Our staff recommendations highlight books you won't find with an algorithm or a bot. We support local vendors and artists with our treats and gifts. And the best part, our featured displays show the wit and brilliance of our hardworking booksellers.

Today, we’re announcing a new chapter in our ninety-four-year history: the construction of a second store at 33 Union Street in Boston, just steps from Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market. The new store will occupy 3,500 square feet in the historic Yankee Publishing Building in Boston’s Blackstone Block, the city’s oldest commercial district. Adjoining the bookstore will be a 1,500-square-foot café operated by Lakon Paris Patisserie.

To be clear, our flagship store in Cambridge isn’t changing. It will continue to offer the same extraordinary combination of academic and popular books, customer service, author talks, and community engagement that has made it a destination for book lovers from around the world. As many of you know, opening a store in Boston proper has been a dream of Harvard Book Store for many years. We’re now confident that dream will become a reality. We are excited about the prospects ahead and look forward to welcoming you when you visit the store this fall. We know many of you will have questions. Please direct those to [email protected].
