4 years ago we opened our doors. We had a vision to provide a space for local artists and artisans, youth artists and makers from around the globe. We became dedicated to curating items that would be lovely gifts or additions to a home and to provide a space for our community. In the process of the above, over the past few years, we have been gifted the honor of being let into your special moments in wrapping up gifts for birthdays, baby showers, weddings, new homes, job promotions etc and sending them on their way. The Wall Youth Gallery at The Brick Art and Gifts in Prospect Heights is proud to announce a new Shodō (書道 ) exhibition in collaboration with Aozora Community. Aozora Community (“Aozora” means blue sky in Japanese) is an educational and cultural non-profit organization located in Brooklyn, NY.Aozora Community’s vision is to foster a community of curious, open-minded and caring global citizens. As Brooklyn’s only Japanese and English bilingual school, their mission is to provide quality education rooted in Japanese values, morals, and spirit. As part of that mission they create programs and events for people to connect, share resources and celebrate one another. Shodō (書道 ) is the ancient Japanese practice of artistic handwriting where black Sumi ink dipped brushes contact the paper in techniques that yield individual expressions unique to the artist and their movements in that moment. Under the artistic direction of Taisan Tanaka, a contemporary Japanese artist, the 3 to 5 year old students of this exhibiting group embark on an early life journey of self-expression and creative discovery. The Wall is a not for profit gallery for young artists under 18 years of age. We hope to see you this month! ✍🏻
