It’s been a while since we’ve shared an update — with tariffs and life changes Nath Jewelry has been moving a bit slower behind the scenes. In the past year, we’ve been reflecting and reconsidering the “why” behind our brand.

Chains have been central to South Asian culture for centuries. In diasporic communities, gold chains became essential gifts at every major milestone — births, graduations, weddings — an everyday symbol of inheritance. Chains have survived migrations and political upheavals, carrying memory across generations.

In Brooklyn, chains evolved into a symbol of cultural identity. In the 1970s and 1980s, as hip-hop rose from Brooklyn, gold chains became a signature of pride within Black and immigrant communities. Chains were worn boldly — from the oversized dookie ropes of early rappers, to the intricate layered pieces seen across streetwear and graffiti culture.

For our collaboration with the Brooklyn Museum, it only made sense to take inspiration from the chain. Crafted in 18k gold, these earrings feature architectural structure as well as chains, an ode to both and the South Asian diaspora. Available exclusively at the Brooklyn Museum on 5/3. 💙
