Donegal Square

Donegal Square Located in Historic Bethlehem, purveying all things Ireland and the British Isles. A favorite stop for a true celtic experience, minus the passport ✨

Donegal Square was established in 1985 by owner Neville Gardner as a result of many requests by friends of Neville’s to bring back various items from Ireland each time he visited his family in County Antrim. The name of the shop is taken from the Georgian Square in which Belfast City Hall sits. Neville worked there as a civil engineer before coming to the US back in 1979. In 1996 Donegal Square mo

ved to our current location almost doubling in size and allowing the addition of McCarthy’s Tea Room. Since Neville grew up in Northern Ireland and had the benefit of both Irish and Scottish heritage, it’s fitting that you will find a great mixture of products from all the Celtic Lands. If you have the opportunity to pay us a visit you’ll feel right at home, and maybe that you found a wee bit of Ireland or Scotland located here in Eastern Pennsylvania- no passport is required. Donegal Square has been involved with the Celtic Classic festival since its inception in 1987 and is proud to be associated with one of the best events of its kind in North America, if not the world. Donegal Square and McCarthy's – now McCarthy's Red Stag Pub and Whiskey Bar – are the Celtic Destination in the Lehigh Valley and Eastern Pennsylvania. Specializing in Celtic Imports from Ireland and the rest of the British Isles Donegal Square carries a great range of items from the best companies on both sides of the Atlantic. McCarthy's Red Stag Pub and Whiskey Bar makes many dishes from owner Neville Gardner’s native Northern Ireland family recipes, while offering a range of imported draught beers, a wide variety of British Isles whiskies and a friendly "Irish" pub atmosphere.

There’s a quiet kind of storytelling in the work of Wild Goose Studio.

Inspired by Irish history, landscape, and old Celtic symbols...each piece carries a sense of place with it. Something meant to be lived with, not just looked at.

These are the kinds of pieces people stop in front of a little longer.
Which one speaks to you most? ☘️

There’s a reason some glasses become part of the ritual.

The Túath Glass() was designed specifically for Irish whiskey. Shaped to settle naturally in the hand while opening up the aroma and character of the pour itself. Its curved base allows the glass to rest gently on its side before drinking, giving the whiskey a little room to breathe first.

Thoughtfully designed, easy to reach for, and the kind of piece that turns a simple pour into more of an occasion.

Some fragrances feel less like something you wear and more like something you remember later.

Innisfree by Fragrances of Ireland takes its name from W.B. Yeats’ *The Lake Isle of Innisfree*. A scent inspired by softness, stillness, and the feeling of Ireland carried quietly through the day.

Floral notes, light citrus, and warm sandalwood give it a balance that feels both fresh and familiar. Beautifully made in Ireland, and the kind of piece people tend to linger over once they pick it up.

Stop in and experience Innisfree for yourself.

Some things stay recognizable no matter how much time passes.

This new Guinness cap carries that familiar balance. It's easy to wear, understated, and tied to a name people know long before they walk through the door.

A small piece of Irish culture that settles easily into everyday life.
Come in and see it for yourself.

Wool has always held a practical place in Irish life. Made to keep warmth in, weather out, and last through years of daily use.

Blankets from makers like John Hanly() and Avoca () still carry that feeling forward. Natural fibers, woven texture, and patterns that feel connected to place without needing much explanation.

These are the kinds of pieces people tend to keep close once they bring them home.

Visit us this week.

Some accessories take a little convincing. Others feel right the moment they’re tried on.

These Mucros Weavers hats fall into the second category. Easy to wear, thoughtfully made, and finished with the kind of detail people tend to notice up close.

The sort of piece someone tries on “just to see,” then keeps thinking about afterward. Some pieces do not ask for much attention. They just settle in naturally once they’re worn.

What makes a piece feel like you when you try it on?

05/16/2026

The pieces people come back for are rarely the loudest ones.

More often, they’re the ones that still feel right long after the occasion has passed. Worn, kept, and understood a little more over time.

That’s part of what symbols like this have always done.

Do you prefer gifts that are practical, meaningful, or a little of both?

05/15/2026

Every shop has a corner that gathers attention without trying too hard.

This one’s been doing it all week. A little humor, a little personality, and something people tend to pick up twice before putting down.

What draws you in first? Color, texture, or something that makes you laugh?
