I have a slightly unconventional journaling opinion.

We spend a lot of time talking about prompts, layouts, stickers, and planner systems, but almost nobody talks about the actual color of the page.

The funny thing is your nervous system notices it long before you do.

Some people thrive with bright colors. Some love crisp white pages. Others find those same pages exhausting, distracting, or weirdly intimidating. (If you've ever stared at a blank page for ten minutes before writing a single word, you know exactly what I mean.)

The older I get, the more I realize that "pretty" and "supportive" aren't always the same thing.

The best journal isn't necessarily the trendiest one. It's the one that helps your brain settle in, focus, and stay present long enough to actually use it.

That's one of the reasons Leaf & Latch uses rich, grounded palettes. Not because bright colors are bad, but because I wanted our journals to feel like a cozy greenhouse corner rather than another thing competing for your attention.

Now I'm curious.

When it comes to journals, planners, or notebooks, what colors do you naturally gravitate toward? Bright and energetic? Clean and minimal? Moody and grounded? 🌿

A few months ago, if you had told me I'd be flying across the country by myself to attend one of my dream conferences, I probably would've laughed and asked if you were sure you had the right Amber. 😅🌿

But here we are.

Leaf & Latch is headed to Charlotte, North Carolina for the Conference this June, and honestly, I still can't quite believe I'm typing those words.

What makes this even more special is that I won my ticket through a giveaway. Something that felt years away suddenly became possible overnight.

If you've followed my journey for a while, you know Females on Fire holds a special place in my heart. This community helped me find my spark when I was still figuring out who I was as a founder. It gave me confidence, friendships, encouragement, and a reminder that business doesn't have to be built alone.

This trip comes with a whole greenhouse full of firsts.

My first business trip by myself.

My first solo flight.

My first trip to the East Coast.

My first time being away from my husband and kids in seven years.

My first time meeting some incredible women I've only ever known through a screen.

And yes, my first time winning a giveaway. 🌱

I'm excited. I'm nervous. I'm packing way too many snacks. All of the above can be true at the same time.

More than anything, I'm grateful.

Grateful for the people who have supported Leaf & Latch from the beginning. Grateful for the communities that remind us we belong before we've "made it." Grateful for every season that led me here.

Sometimes growth looks less like having all the answers and more like buying the plane ticket anyway.

If you've ever been scared to walk into a room where you don't know anyone, consider this your reminder that some of the best things in life happen when we let ourselves be replanted somewhere new. 🌿

Have you ever attended an event, conference, or gathering that completely changed your perspective? I'd love to hear about it in the comments.

Before you start planning next week, can I ask you something?

What are you carrying into next week that doesn't belong there? 🌿

Maybe it's stress from a week that didn't go according to plan. Maybe it's guilt over the things you didn't finish. Maybe it's an expectation you've placed on yourself that was never realistic in the first place.

As founders, parents, caregivers, students, employees, and beautifully overwhelmed humans, we get really good at carrying things. Sometimes so good that we forget to ask whether we're still supposed to be carrying them.

We spend a lot of time planning what needs our attention next week, but not nearly enough time deciding what deserves to stay behind.

Sometimes growth isn't about adding more. Sometimes it's about pruning back what is draining your energy so something healthier has room to grow.

So before Monday arrives, take a minute to check your emotional backpack. Is there something in there that's been hitching a ride for far too long? 🍃

For me, it's usually the expectation that I should be able to do everything at once. Spoiler alert: I cannot.

What is one thing you're choosing to leave behind this week? I'd love to hear it in the comments. 💚

Be honest...

How many times have you said, "I should start journaling," only to end up staring at a blank page wondering what you're even supposed to write?

The problem might not be the journal.

It might be the goal.

Some people need a place to dump the mental clutter that's rattling around like loose pots in a greenhouse. Some need help untangling emotions. Some are looking for routines they can actually stick with. Others want creative space, business support, or a deeper understanding of themselves.

Different roots need different care. 🌿

That's why I don't believe all journals should do the same thing.

So I'm curious...

What are you actually hoping journaling will help you with right now?

1️⃣ Mental Unload
2️⃣ Emotional Processing
3️⃣ Sustainable Routines
4️⃣ Creative Expression
5️⃣ Business Support
6️⃣ Self-Awareness

Drop your number below. Bonus points if you tell me why. I read every comment, and honestly, these conversations help me create better journals for real humans living real lives.

A lot of us have been taught to treat changing our minds like failure.

Pick a goal.
Stick to the goal.
Never quit.
Never pivot.
Never question it.

But what if the goal changed because you changed?

What if the version of you who made that goal six months ago needed something different than the version of you sitting here today?

Plants don't spend their entire lives trying to stay the same. They adapt to the light. They stretch toward new conditions. They outgrow old pots. They change shape as they grow.

Humans are allowed to do that too. 🌿

That's one of the reasons the Unfurling Board exists inside every Leaf & Latch journal.

It isn't about creating a perfectly aesthetic collage of everything you want to achieve.

It's about paying attention to who you're becoming along the way.

Because growth isn't always a straight line.

Sometimes growth looks like doubling down.
Sometimes growth looks like changing direction.
Sometimes growth looks like realizing the thing you thought you wanted was never actually yours to begin with.

And honestly? That isn't failure.

That's awareness.

I'm curious... Have you ever changed a goal because YOU changed?

Drop a 🌿 below and tell me what shifted.

Every month we get handed a fresh calendar and immediately start asking ourselves what we need to DO.

What if we started by asking who we want to BE?

One of the reasons I love journaling is that it gives me a chance to pause before the month takes off running. Before the appointments, the deadlines, the responsibilities, and the inevitable "Mom, watch this!" moments begin piling up.

The truth is, what blooms above the surface is usually a reflection of what has been happening beneath it all along.

If we are constantly running on empty, ignoring our needs, and stretching ourselves too thin, eventually our roots feel it. If we create space for reflection, intention, and awareness, our growth starts to look different too.

That is exactly why I put together these five prompts. Not to help you create the perfect month, but to help you create a more intentional one.

Grab your favorite journal, a cup of coffee, tea, or whatever is keeping you upright today, and spend a few quiet minutes with these questions. You might be surprised by what comes up.

And when you're done, come back and tell me:

🌿 Which prompt made you stop and think the longest?

Drop the number in the comments. I'd love to know which one planted the biggest seed for you.

Ambition is wanting to build something meaningful 🌿

Burnout is realizing you have not had a coherent thought in 3 business days because your brain has been running entirely on caffeine, cortisol, and “I’ll deal with it later” ☕😅

Those are NOT the same thing.

I think somewhere along the way, a lot of founders got taught that being exhausted all the time means you care more. Like if you are not answering emails half asleep, mentally buffering every time you open your laptop, and functioning as your own assistant, marketing team, customer service department, therapist, and emotional support raccoon… are you even trying hard enough?

But wanting growth is healthy.
Wanting success is healthy.
Caring deeply about your business is healthy.

Your ambition should not cost you your peace, your relationships, your nervous system, or your entire personality in the process.

and I have been having SO many conversations about this behind the scenes lately while working on something new 👀

Something built around sustainable work, real human capacity, and systems that support the human running the business too.

Because businesses grow better when their roots are supported.

Drop a 🌱 if you are done treating burnout like a personality trait.

You should not need burnout to prove you care about your business 🌿

Before you plan next week, try this first:

Grab a notebook and split a page into 3 sections:
🌱 What actually NEEDS my attention?
🌱 What feels urgent but can wait?
🌱 What am I carrying that was never mine to carry in the first place?

Because honestly? Half the mental load of entrepreneurship is not even the tasks themselves. It is trying to keep 47 tabs, random ideas, client notes, grocery lists, emotional baggage, and “don’t forget this later” thoughts alive in your brain at the exact same time ☕😅

The internet loves to romanticize burnout like it is some kind of badge of honor for ambitious women. Meanwhile your nervous system is over there holding on by a crispy little root.

You deserve support.
You deserve systems that actually work with your real human capacity.
And you deserve to build something meaningful without self abandoning in the process 🪴

There has been something really exciting rooting behind the scenes lately and I genuinely cannot wait to share more soon 👀

Drop a 🌱 if your brain has been running on caffeine, chaos, and pure survival mode lately.

Somewhere along the line, burnout got mistaken for ambition.

People are out here answering emails while mentally rewriting their to-do list, trying to remember six ideas at once, regulating everyone else’s emotions, and pretending the 37 open tabs are “part of the process.”

Then we wonder why our nervous systems feel crispy.

A lot of founders are not struggling because they are lazy or unmotivated. They are trying to build businesses with brains that have been overloaded for way too long. Hustle culture keeps handing out productivity advice when what people actually need is support, structure, sustainable systems, and space to actually process what is happening.

Honestly, this conversation has been growing roots into something really exciting behind the scenes lately 👀🪴

Something designed for real human capacity.
Something that helps untangle the mental vines instead of adding more pressure.
Something that supports the human running the business, not just the business itself.

Because growth should not require self abandonment to survive.

Drop a 🌱 if your brain currently sounds like a browser tab playing mysterious music somewhere in the background.

Half the reason founders are overwhelmed is because we keep trying to run businesses like houseplants surviving in a closet with no water and pure delusion ☕🌿

Most systems are built for fantasy productivity land where everyone apparently wakes up hydrated, focused, emotionally regulated, and ready to color code their life at 5am.

Meanwhile the rest of us are running six tabs, twelve responsibilities, a nervous system held together with caffeine, and at least one forgotten sticky note.

Something new is rooting soon for the founders who are tired of pretending “just try harder” is a sustainable business plan.

Drop a 🌱 if your browser tabs are currently a cry for help.
